Application for the issue of Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) to candidates seeking
admission in U.G./ P.G. Degree Courses under (1) Non Resident Indian (NRI) / Person of Indian
Origin (PIO) / Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries(CIWGC) and (2) Foreign National
(FN) category will be issued by The Centre for Student Affairs, Anna University from
18.08.2014 to 18.09.2014 for the academic year 2014-2015.
Following are the documents required for the issue of Provisional Eligibility Certificate

Applications without any of the above documents for categories 1 and 2 will not be
considered for the issue of Provisional Eligibility Certificate.
The Candidates admitted under the above categories 1 and 2 will be approved by the
Commissioner, Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai - 600 025, only on production of the
Provisional Eligibility Certificate issued by Anna University, Chennai for the academic year
concerned.
GUIDELINES:
As per G.O.(Ms.) No.162, dated 02.06.2009, the following guidelines are adopted for
admission of students under NRI quota in Self Financing Engineering Colleges and Self
supporting Courses run in Government Aided Engineering Colleges from the academic year
2009-10 onwards.
(i)
Admission to the NRI seats may be made on the basis of the marks obtained in the
qualifying examinations.
(ii)
The Candidates to be admitted under NRI quota are required to have obtained a pass
in the Higher Secondary Examinations (10+2 pattern or equivalent).

(iii)
The Seats under NRI quota should be utilized bonafide by the NRIs only and for their
children or wards. Therefore, the NRI financially supporting the candidate should
either be the parent (Father or Mother) of the candidate or legally declared as
guardian of the candidate by the Court as per provisions in The Guardians and Wards
Act, 1890.
For admitting candidates under the Foreign Nationals/PIOs/Children of Indian workers in
Gulf countries category, the college should obtain necessary approval from AICTE after fulfilling
the conditions prescribed by the Council.
ELIGIBILITY:
The minimum eligibility marks for NRI/FN categories for B.E./B.Tech Degree Courses for
the year 2014-15 are listed below:

Reserved categories will apply only to Tamil Nadu Native candidates. Other State
(including Puducherry) candidates are treated as General category.
Rounding off of minimum eligibility marks is not permitted.
Improvement examination marks should not be considered for evaluation for
minimum eligibility marks.
For HSC (Vocational) students, marks will be evaluated based on Vocational related
subjects only.
In respect of students who have done their +2 under Boards other than CBSE and
State Boards, the +2 Equivalency Certificate should be obtained from
The Director School Education Department, DPI Campus, College Road,
Chennai - 600 006. The Principals are requested to obtain +2 Equivalency
Certificated before admitting the student.
Srilankan Tamil Refugee candidates are treated as "General Category" and should be
admitted on verification of Refugee Certificate issued by Tahsildhar.
The Principals are requested to follow all the above guidelines before submitting the
application form for Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC).

Issue of Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) for NRI / PIO / CIWGC / FN
Application forms for the issue of Provisional Eligibility Certificate (PEC) to the candidates
who are seeking admission in the affiliated engineering colleges under Non Resident Indian
(NRI)/Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries
(CIWGC)/Foreign National (F/N) category during the academic year 2014-2015 can be obtained
in person from The Centre for Student Affairs, Anna University, Chennai 600 025, by paying
the application fee of Rs.5,000/- by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Director,
Student Affairs, Anna University, payable at Chennai.
Application forms can also be obtained by post by sending a letter of requisition along with
a Demand Draft for Rs. 5,100/- (which includes postal charges) towards application fee drawn in
favour of the Director, Student Affairs, Anna University, payable at Chennai and mailed to the
Director, Centre for Student Affairs, Anna University, Chennai 600 025.

APPLICATION:

Filled in applications with relevant documents for obtaining Provisional Eligibility
Certificate should be submitted to the Director, Centre for Student Affairs, Anna University,
Chennai - 25.
On receipt of the filled applications with relevant documents for the issue of Provisional
Eligibility Certificate, a committee constituted therefore will scrutinize the applications as per the
checklist prepared in this regard and Provisional Eligibility Certificate will be issued on the
recommendation of the above committee.
