One Spark Audience Analysis

Target Audience: UNF Fine Art Students
Nickname: The Artistic Ospreys
Demographics:
According to DemographicsNow, the targeted audience makes up about 15
percent of the population in Jacksonville, Fla. The age of the audience ranges from
18 26. The majority of the targeted audience is currently seeking a bachelors
degree in fine arts. According to The Journal of Consumer Marketing, their annual
income ranges from $15,000 - $25,000.
Psychographics:
According to The Journal of Consumer Marketing, this audience can be
broken down into three primary Values Attitudes And Lifestyles (VALS) types :
Experiencers, Strivers and Achievers. As Experiencers, they follow fashions and
fads. They also tend to spend disposable income on socializing. They have media
habits typical to that of young people. As Strivers, they are image conscious. They
carry a credit balance. They also spend on clothes and personal products. As
Achievers, they are relevantly affluent, image-conscious consumers who are
attracted to premium products.
The text also cites that this group grew up in a more media-saturated, brandconscious world than their parents and they respond to ads differently, preferring to
encounter ads through sources other than traditional media. This audience prefers
messages that are quick, direct and honest. Since they do not trust traditional media
as much as earlier generations and they dislike being an advertising target, they are
more likely to depend on the opinion of friends and word-of-mouth for information
flow.
According to the International Journal of Hospitality Management, this
audience is tech-savvy, entertainment driven, aware and has a strong sense of
community, team players, adaptable, physically inactive, and more likely to engage
if gaining a sense of pride or purpose.
Stakeholders:

According to the Florida Times-Union, stakeholders with an interest in One

Spark include Shad Khan, Arsenal Venture Partners, Florida Blue, Palm Ventures,
and Healthbox.
Whats important?
Based on the data collected, the targeted audience are young, tech-savvy
individuals. They love to socialize. They like to express their opinions and interests
and they use multiples outlets to do so. By seeking their engagement and
participation in One Spark means giving them a sense of pride behind doing so.
Outline of Publics international network
According to the Journal of Consumer Marketing, electronic media is their
primary media outlet. The audience rates the internet and television as very high in
importance as a source of advertising information. Surprisingly, television usage
was found to be greater by a small margin than the internet. The text cites this
group as moderate television viewers, watching an hour less of TV than the
average household in the U.S. They lean toward programs shown on network and
cable rather than prime time. Messages that involve elements of surprise and
humor appeal the most to this audience. This audience is regularly using blogs,
reviews and social networks to express their interests. This audience gathers most
of their information from their friend by process of word-of-mouth. They are the
most likely out of any age population to utilize texting as a regular mode of
communication. In order to raise awareness about One Spark to this audience,
social media outlets should be used and news releases to local news and radio
stations should be sent.

One Spark Five-Day Crowdfunding Festival

Returns to Northeast Florida April 9 13
Jacksonville, Fla. (February 10, 2014) Creators ideas in art, innovation, music
science and technology will be showcased in a 20block, multi-venue gallery to
impress attendees and collect votes that translate to a percentage of a $200,000
crowdfund in the second annual One Spark Festival in downtown Jacksonville,
Fla., beginning Wednesday, April 9 through Sunday, April 13.
I think the essence of the event and the purpose of One Spark at its core, which
was really to connect ideas to resources to help make them happen and be a
platform for doers from all walks of life, the essence and that purpose brought out
three-quarters of the people and the rest of the people showed up because 70,000
other people were going downtown, said Elton Rivas, One Spark co-founder and
chairman of the board of directors, reflecting on last years festival.
The festival is free to attend. To vote, attendees will need to create an account
online with a payment source attached to it. Along with votes, creators of the
festival are also seeking donations of any amount from attendees. This gives
attendees the opportunity to discover and vote for the next big thing. The festival
will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. all five days.
Creators can raise money for their ideas four different ways. Collect attendees
votes to score a percentage of the $200,000 crowdfund. Attendees can donate any
dollar amount to a project. Industry experts will jury an additional $10,000 prize to
the innovative project of their choice. Creators can connect with millions of dollars
in capital from investors. Creators can submit their projects regardless of which
stage in production it is in. The last day for creators to register their ideas is
February 21.

The action will take place at various venues in downtown Jacksonville.

Restaurants, office buildings, retail storefronts, public parking lots and pubs
become innovation hubs during this five-day festival.
Food trucks and food vendors are there to satisfy attendees food and beverage
needs. The festival features the 2014 One Spark Music Stage where musicians will
have 15 minutes to earn votes. The festival concludes with two events. First, three
juried award finalists in each category will make their final pitches to their juries.
The jurors then decide which project receives the $10,000 juried award in their
category. In the closing ceremony, the winners of the $310,000 in guaranteed
crowdfunds and cash awards are announced. Attendees will see ideas become
reality. Attendees will enjoy special performances and entertainment as the festival
