MiCOM P122 & P123
MiCOM P122 & P123
MiCOM P122 & P123
1. Description: MiCOM P122 Enhanced III-Phase Over current Protection (Phase & Earth)
Relay.
2. Application: The MiCOM P122 feeder protection relays protect against and measure the Phase
over current, Earth fault, Negative sequence over current, Thermal over load and Under
current.
3. Test Requirements:
3.1 General/Visual inspection.
3.2 Electrical tests.
3.2.1 Phase over current ( I> )
3.2.2 Earth Fault (Ie> )
3.2.3 Negative Sequence (I2> )
3.2.4 Thermal over load ( I> )
3.2.5 Undercurrent ( I< )
4. Equipment Required:
4.1 D.C Power Supply (0 300V),(0 - 3A)
4.2 Portable Over Current relay test equipment.(CFB kit),( 0.05 200A)
5. Relay Terminals:
2&6
33 & 34
41-48
43-48
45-48
47-48
41/43/45 & 48
49-56
51-56
53-56
49/51/53 & 56
6. Procedure:
6.1 General inspection: Wipe away any dust that has collected on the on the relay
after taking from panel board. Make a general inspection of the relay to ensure
that there are no sign of damage any where.
6.2 First Note down all the service settings in the relay.
6.2.1 Service Setting Note down procedure:
1. Press key, then key until G1 protection has not come.
2. Press key again & note down settings of one function.
3. Again press key for the next function & press key for that function values.
4. Repeat the previous procedure & note down all the settings values.
Note: Dont Press Enter key (middle key) at the time of writing service settings. The settings
values will change if you press the enter key.
* Repeat the same above procedure for Y & B phase by changing the respective
terminals.
6.5 Negative Phase Sequence test.(I2>)
** Testing procedure.
* Connect the output terminals of D.C power supply to relay terminals 33 & 34.
* Connect the relay current terminals of CFB kit to relay terminals 41 & 48.
(for R phase only).
* Connect the relay contact terminals of CFB kit to relay terminals 2 & 6.
* Inject the current according to the service settings current & time values.
Ex: If service setting value is I2> = 0.2In where In = C.T secondary
Then I2> = 0.2x5(if In = 5) = 1amp, so inject three times of setting
So inject current =1x3=3 Amps current.
* Inject 3 times of current, the relay will trip with in setting time.
* According to the service setting time note down the time for trip.
* Repeat the same above procedure for Y & B phase by changing the respective
terminals.
6.6 Thermal Over load test (I>)
** Testing procedure.
Ex: If service setting value is I > = 0.2In where In = C.T secondary
Then I > = 0.2x5(if In = 5) = 1amp, so inject two times of setting
So inject current =1x2=2 Amps current.
* Inject 2 times of current, the relay will trip with in setting time.
* Ex : If Te=1, Ke=1 & you will inject 2 times of setting,
then trip time will be 17.26 sec.
* According to the service setting time note down the time for trip.
* Repeat the same above procedure for Y & B phase by changing the respective
terminals.
* Reset the thermal content % to zero before inject for next phase.
** Reset the relay.
* When the tripping occurred the tripping led will glow & show the cause of fault.
* Read the fault condition by pressing the read key.
* Press the read key 3 times then it ask for reset the alarm.
* Press C key for reset then go for another phase test.
