Look What Were Studying

We have been busy getting to know each other and practicing our routines. Each week we have a
couple of target goals that we will be focusing on. A target goal is a standard that we have been
working on in class that I want the students to master. I have many goals that I am working on with
the class that are on-going, however they may just be skills that we are developing and may not be
mastered. You will see that I will list a couple of the target goals on each newsletter. Please practice
these skills at home.
Last week we also enjoyed exploring our centers, our friends, and our classroom. I love each of the
kiddos excitement for learning already! It makes teaching so fun! One of our favorite stories so far
was Pete the Cat. They may have come home singing parts of the story. Hopefully, they used their
sequencing sticks to retell the story for you. If not it isnt too late!
We are going to really be working on writing our first names correctly. This is more than just spelling
it correctly. We are working letter by letter on formation. We are learning how their names are so
important and special the first letter is always capital, but the rest of the letters are lower case. This
will continue to be our focus the next few weeks. We will also be adding colors and shapes in the
next two weeks. This month we will also be celebrating Constitution day, and the end the month
learning the letter Aa, exploring apples, and celebrating Johnny Appleseeds Birthday. I am so
excited about this school year! It is a wonderful class, we are going to learn so much!
