Reading

This week we began

working on the letters
of the alphabet and
their sounds. We
learned lots of songs to
help us remember the
letters names and
sounds.
We also began our
Daily Five launch. Dean
Road uses Daily Five during its literacy block.
This week we began building our stamina for
read to self. Your amazing little people did a
great job!

Math
This week we worked on writing
our numbers correctly.
We also began our math centers. The children practiced rotating using different manipulatives and doing math journal
sheets. This week they counted the letters in
their names and filled in an August calendar.

Writing
The week we have been writing
our kindergarten books. We are
writing about different aspects of
our day.
We are working all together to
practice segmenting and writing
letters. This has helped boost the childrens confidence in their writing. We will continue these journals for the next week and a half and then will begin the process of independent journal writing.

Next Week
Next week we will continue learning about the alphabet and we will learn about community helpers. If you have a job that you would like to share
about with our class please email me.

this by Sept. 11.
