Pt0 - Preparing Simulated Environment
1. Create 2 virtual machines in VirtualBox: one server VM and one client
VM. Copy Win2012R2.vdi from learn drive and import it to the server
VM. Change network adapters to Internal Network for both VMs.
5. Select the server that you want to install the role on and click the next
button
6. On the next screen tick Active Directory Domain Services and DHCP
Server.
7. On the next screens leave the default settings and select next and then
install.8.
8. Once the installation of DHCP and Active Directory roles is complete you
will get a notification in the Server Manager console to Promote this
server to a domain controller and to Complete DHCP configuration. You
can to run the Promote this server to a domain controller first, click on
that.
10. Next choose the forest function level. Select Windows Server 2012 R2,
give the domain a DSRM password (you need to provide this password for
the client VM later) and select next.
11. Leave the rest of the settings as default and keep clicking next though
the wizard. At the end of the configuration wizard you will be signed out
and the server will be rebooted. Once the server is rebooted it will be a
domain controller.
12. Log into the server and open DHCP in the start menu. You will notice
that it is not configured yet. Right click on IPv4 and select New Scope.
13. This will open the New Scope Wizard, give the scope a name and
description and click next.
14. Now you will need to set the IP range. To do this enter a start IP and
end IP that is on the same subnet as you. You will want to make sure that
these IP addresses are available.
15. The next screen allows you to add any exclusions to the IP range. You
can leave it unchanged this time. Select next.
16. Set your lease duration time and select next.
17. Configure the scope options, this is where you configure your router
and default gateway address (10.10.0.10) and anything else that needs to
be allocated by DHCP. Go through these settings and allocate as needed
for your network.
Now you will be able to see your DHCP scope in the DHCP console.
2. Expand servers, right click on your server name and click Configure
Server.
3. Read over the Before you begin screen and confirm that your
configuration meets the requirements and select next.
4. On the Install Options page you will need to select integrated with
Active directory and click the next button.
5. On the Remote Installation Folder Location, select the location where
you want to keep all of that Windows Images and configuration files and
select next.
6. On the PXE Server Initial Settings page Select the appropriate setting
that you want. Select respond to all client computers (known and
unknown) because we want to be able to deploy images to any computer
on the network.
7. Tick the box Add images to the server now and select Finish. This will
now pop up with the options to Add images to your WDS server.
2. You should see the following screen. Select appropriate options and
provide the username (Test\administrator) and password (the password
you set earlier).
