Presidential Inauguration

Unity. What does "unity" mean? For those of us

who claim Christ as our model of living and savior
of humanity, it means we are one. This year the
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has as its theme
the Scripture citation 2 Corinthians 5:14-20. The
first line contains our mission statement... "For the
love of Christ impels us, once we have come to the
conviction that one died for all; therefore all have
died." If that is not a mandate for unity, then there
is none. We are one in the death of Christ and
therefore live in unity with all other Christians.

Franciscan Reflections
"Go announce peace to all
people; preach repentance for
the remission of sins. Be patient in trials, watchful in
prayer, and steadfast in
weariness. Be modest in your
speech, responsible in your actions, and
grateful to your benefactors. And know in
return an eternal kingdom is being
made ready for you!"
- St Francis of Assisi

During the Season of Advent,

we heard John the Baptist telling
us to "PREPARE" for the coming
of the Messiah. In today's Gospel, we hear The Baptist now
calling us to "BEHOLD THE LAMB
OF GOD." It certainly is a moment of awakening, a profession
of faith to recognize Jesus as the Lamb of God,
the unblemished, spotless One who is God in our
midst (Emmanuel). It's not easy to truly come to
this point of faith, we need time, and conversion
of heart and soul as we encounter Christ throughout our lives. There are churches that require one
to "be born again, to accept Jesus as your personal Lord"----I have come to know that this conversion is life-long. From the time of our Baptism to
our Golden Years, we draw closer to Jesus in our
awareness of what he came for, died for, and does
for us every day of our lives.
In this Ordinary Time, we have an opportunity
to also think about our involvement within the
Church---the living presence of Jesus. Perhaps you
NEVER have thought of serving as an ACOLYTE; a
LECTOR; helping with the collection; setting up for
liturgies; decorating; MUSIC MINISTRY------well,
this is the time to reflect upon it, and make a
deeper commitment to the Church. Remember,
the asking comes from ABOVE,,,,Mass requires
YOUR INVOLVEMENT, it's not a concert or an
event we attend....that's why we need to sing
(Loudly), to pray the responses, the sitting, the
standing, the hand gestures, and the heartfelt
emotions...all this is how we look upon Jesus and
say...TRULY, WE BEHOLD YOU AS THE LAMB OF
GOD! Be assured of my thoughts and prayers for
you EVERYDAY!!!

Live Jesus in our hearts,

forever!
