Project Aim

#THATSWHY Campaign hopes to share interesting stories behind some unique/specific

behavior of both Singaporeans and foreigners. We hope to use these stories to educate
both local and foreign participants on cultural differences and moving from there,
encourage mutual understanding and appreciation of each others cultural and behavior
differences.

Project Idea
a) Activities you will be doing

The project comprises the following:

There will be a total of 10 stories from both Singaporeans and foreigners sharing
stories behind unique/specific behaviours such as choping seats with tissue papers,
congregating of specific nationalities in certain locations in Singapore etc. We will also
be producing a video together while collecting the stories for the publicity.
These 10 stories and the video will be shared via social media platforms, namely, SKM
and Sembawang facebook page, twitter and Instagram. These 10 stories will be roll out
between 25 July 3 August 2016.
An event will be held on 4 August where the 10 stories will be printed on Styrofoam
boards and general public comprising both Singaporeans and foreigners in Sembawang
area will play a matching games using these boards. The game requires participants to
match the behaviours and the stories.

b) The intended date and venue

The pre-publicity will be held from 25 July 2016 and end only on 3 August 2016. An event will be
held on 4 August 2016. We planned to execute the event in 4 different areas of Sembawang GRC,
mainly marketplace areas, where there is a huge crowd of residents.

c) The expected response from target audience
After participating in our event as well as reading our stories on social media,we hope that the
residents of Sembawang GRC will have a change in the way they perceive each other. We want them
to think of the possible reasons behind the actions and behaviour that is done by others. This would
in turn lead them to have a more positive mindset towards each other and prevent more conflict
and clashes between each other. This change should help them to take a step forward to be a kind
and gracious individual that will take initiative to be welcoming towards each other.
d) Who is the target audience

We have decided to target both local and foreign residents living within Sembawang
Grassroots Community. We narrowed down our target audiences to foreigners and locals
between the ages of 17 to 30 and 18 to 60 years old respectively. e specifically chose
these target groups as we believe they would have developed a certain mindset and
perspective, towards both target audience and through their experiences of socializing
with one another.

e) How many people do you aim to reach out to
