RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.
Snagit is software for any Windows or Mac. This technology gives you the ability to screen capture your
whole computer screen or a portion of whatever you want to record. This software also allows you to
mark up things on your video and you could also do a voice over on the video you make so you can give
direction while showing your steps.

INTEGRATION/IMPLEMENTATION IDEA - SCREENCASTING

How might you use this resource to promote student learning? Describe who will be doing the
screencasting you or your students, and what purpose it will serve.
This would be useful for giving instruction at home and still being able to reach your students. For
example if a student has an essay required in a specific format you could do a SnagIt on the steps and
theyd have access to the video online. Or even if you would have them do a PowerPoint you could
demonstrate the tools and basics of the program. This not only gives the students support with their
assignments but also could definitely save time in the classroom by making it assigned to watch at
home.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
Given the information above, how would the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource? (On the Value-Added Rating Scale above)
Explain your rating based on the indicators on the rubric.

I would give this a solid 2. This has to do more with instruction and not so much the content they are
learning. Knowing how to use Word and PowerPoint will be an essential part of their learning through all
their higher education. With the screencast it will be more efficient to let the kids watch the video
outside of class so they can have more time learning the content they do a project or essay on. Students
can critical think because although they have a video to refer to they still need to explore the programs.
