There is saying that says what is personal is universal. In my personal
life I have been witnessing death a lot. Just a couple of month ago my
neighbor son who was twenty years old got hit by a car and died, About
two week later my other neighbor who lives direct across the street
died. That same week my barber cousin who was in go health died in car
accident. And to top it off Im apart of the Islamic Associotion Raleigh
Janzaa committee, so that means that I get text messages when someone
dies in the community. And for the last two I have receive a lot of texts.
Mawt
In this world death is not allowed any space, it is not that death is not
noticeable everywhere is that world prefers to ignore it. We see death
everywhere road kill on the news.
The messenger of Allah (saw) says

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:
The Messenger of Allah ( )said: Frequently remember the destroyer of
pleasures, meaning death. Frequently remember death.
By remember death makes of aware of our existence and destiny. That we

were born to die. That we were created to die.
So Allah says in the Quran

Sahih International: Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil
and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.
Meaning that everyone in here everyone in the world shall die
No one will leave this earth a live.
Death makes you cognitive of our reality on this earth.

Allah says in the Quran
21:33-34
Chapter (50) srat qf
Sahih International: And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that
is what you were trying to avoid. Sukr
This verse is speaking about the time of death when mankind is about to
die the reality of life and death will be put in front of them everything
that they did in life. We will be in druken state of death that will produce
a since of reality. This Sakrah (druken state of death) is state when
someone is near death. Allah says in the state the truth or reality will be
brought forth.
The Prophet (saw) said that everyone is asleep until they die
So doing this moment of prior to death we will see the truth or reality of
want were trying to avoid. I witness people change there outlook on life
because of a near death experience. (talk about how some people who on
life support got of they are change people.) When put in life threaten
situation people change. So people have to have something to impact
their lives to changes. So people avoid change until they are faced with
death
We taste death every night
The Prophet said Sleep is the brother of Death
Sahih International: And it is He who takes your souls by night and knows
what you have committed by day.
Chapter (39) srat l-zumar (The Groups)
Sahih International: Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and
those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep. Then He keeps those for
which He has decreed death and releases the others for a specified or
appointed term. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give
thought.
This should bring to mind that we are not promise tomorrow. And that
Allah is in control of death. How many people do you know have died in
their sleep.
The Prophet Muhammad will make this Dua when he woke up in the
morning.
One of the Names of Allah is AL Mumit the one who takes

life
Sahih International: He it is who gives life and causes death; and when He
decrees a matter, He but says to it, "Be," and it is.
Allah is the one who decides the appointed time (Ajal) of each
individual and who causes the person to die (amata). Human beings can
only hurt or wound ourselves or someone but it is Allah who causes that
person to die.
Chapter (3) srat l im'rn (The Family of Imrn)

Sahih International: And it is not [possible] for one to die except by
permission of Allah at a decree determined. And whoever desires the reward
of this world - We will give him thereof; and whoever desires the reward of the
Hereafter - We will give him thereof. And we will reward the grateful.
So we have no control when or where we will die
We can eat right, exercise, do everything humanly possible to live a

health life. All that does is make our life more comfortable. but know
that you time to die is written or is appointed time.
No one has the power to avoid it, nor does anyone around the dying person have the
ability to prevent it. It is something which happens every moment and is encountered
by the old and the young, the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak.
You have some people think that the can avoid. We can try live a health
and comfortable life and maybe that will prolonge our lives. But we
should not have that mindset that we can escape death
hapter (4) srat l-nisa (The Women)
Sahih International: Wherever you may be, death will overtake you,
even if you should be within towers of lofty construction.
62:8
Sahih International: Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee - indeed,
it will meet you.
Sahih International: And We did not grant to any man before you eternity
[on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal?
So we are not immortals. We are mortals
So knowing that we are mortals. And that we are going to die, then
when should organize our lives to the reality of what life and death
was created for.
Chapter (67) srat l-mulk (Dominion)
Sahih International: [He] who created death and life to test you [as to]
which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving -
Allah (swt) has created us to be tested.
Sahih International: Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture

that We may try him;
76 (srat l-insn):
al-Rz one the great Mufassirun (great commentary of the

Quran) said that (dr al-duny hiya dr al-ibtil_) of this
world as a place of test
This earth or world we live is a testing ground.
Therefore life is not a sport or without purpose. But life and death has
been created to see who is best in deeds and conduct.
Life and Death is probation period
Death in this perspective is simply the end of a testing period and a

threshold that we have to pass through. Human existence has been
extended to eternity and death become merely vehicle to everlasting life.
But Those who fail the test will simply be failures. And those who past
test will be in successful.
Life is a test, and the final exam will be on yawm qiyaam.

But There will be those that will want to take the test again or to return
to life to get second chance.
Sahih International: [For such is the state of the disbelievers], until, when
death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back
Pickthall: Until, when death cometh unto one of them, he saith: My Lord!
Send me back,
So here Allah is tell us that their will be people who will want to get a second
chance at life. But we know when you die thats it.
So thats why we have to prepare for death in this

life. This is important that when understand that life
is test and preparation for the next. And what we do
in this life will determine our condition in the next
life.
Dua
Chapter (3) srat l im'rn (The Family of Imrn)
2nd
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
A man asked the Prophet (" )When will the Hour be established O Allah's
Messenger ( "?)The Prophet ( ). said, "." "What

have you prepared for it?"
The Prophet said what have you prepared for it
The question is what have we prepared for death?
Or are you ready to die. Have you made preparation for the next
life?
This question from the Prophet Muhammad should make us

priorities our life around preparing for death.
Preparing for death means focusing on those things that will intercede for you or
assist you in the next life.
So we know when we die everything cease. except for

intercesson that Allah has Allowed and the things that Prophet has
mentioned as intercessor
The Quran is intercessor
The Prophet said The Quran is an intercessor

whose intercession will be accepted and an
opponent whose testimony will be accepted.
Whoever puts it in front of him, it will lead him to
Paradise, and whoever puts it behind his back, it
will drive him to Hell.
the Qur'an is proof, either for you or against you."
The Quran will be intercessor on the Day of Judgement
Either it will be for you, if read or recite. Obey and

fulfilled the obligations of the Quran, heeding its
prohibitions, believing in it and venerating and
respecting the Quran, in which case it will be
proof for you,
Or it will be the opposite, if you disrespected the
Quran and neglected its words and meanings and
failed to act upon it, and you did not fulfil the
obligations towards it. In that case it will be a
witness against you on the Day of Resurrection.
So what have you prepared for you death. How is
your relationship with the Quran
The Prophet Muhammad will also be a intercession

It was narrated from Abu Musa that the Prophet said:

and your intercession may be accepted, and Allah, the
Mighty and Sublime, decrees on the lips of His Prophet
whatsoever He will."
So Have you followed the Prophet. Have you followed his Sunnah
have you used his life as a model for you life.
Sahih International: There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of
Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day
Hope
Pickthall: The Prophet is closer to the believers than their selves,

Us making the Prophet our example of how to live our lives will determine if
he will intercede for us.
The things that will benefit us in next life. There are some deeds
that will benefit us in the next life.

said, "When a person dies, all action is cut off for him with the
exception of three things:
sadaqa which continues, building you have built

So when we look at this three things that will benefit you in the next life.
This three things should make life better after you die
There is saying:
Leave the world in a better conditions in wich you found

world a better place
So the ultimate goal of this life is to have place in paradise. This is what
life is all about. Preparing for the next.
So our attention should on the end in mind. This end is the future life
The Future life

Chapter (93) srat l-u (The Forenoon)
Sahih International: And the Hereafter is better for you than the first
[life].
So our hope is for the next life.
So us at As-Salaam Islamic Center we are preparing ourselves for

death. By building a Masjid, everyone in this room, by giving money, in
assistance that you are doing humanly possible. You are prepare
yourself for the next life. The Prophet said:
Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him,
said, Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, then Allah will build for him a house like
it in Paradise.
So we are prepare yourself for the next life and making the world better
Hereafter the hope of the soul of man

That is why G-d wants us to become future oriented, if you understand
the Religion it wants us to become future oriented. The number one hope
is that we will have a home in paradise after this world is finished as we
know it. That is the hope of all spiritual people or Religious people of
the Book, of Scripture and many others that are not of the Book or
Scripture. That is the hope, to have paradise one day, to be free from
the burden of this life and have paradise one day. A life that wont bring
all these burdens, a life that wont be filled with all these miseries,
confusion. (Read Imam Muhammad and the Hereafter)
Those of us who have lost family member parents, children, husband

and wifes the future life should be what we anticipate and yearn for why
because Allah says in the Quran.
Chapter (52) srat l-r (The Mount)
Yusuf Ali: And those who believe and whose families follow them in
Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them
(of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge
for his deeds.
Chapter (13) srat l-rad (The Thunder)
Yusuf Ali: Gardens of everlasting bliss: they shall enter there, as well as
the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring: and
angels shall enter unto them from every gate (with the salutation):
