Butter of antimony In modern terms, antimony trichloride. Usually
prepared in in the seventeenth century by distilling
a dry mixture of corrosive sublimate (mercuric
chloride) and antimony (antimony trisulphide); the
butter distills over as a white or yellowish fluid
that congeals into a solid of a buttery consistency.
