and consequently has not yet gone into full bloom. As we all know, during that time, there was an
existing discrimination between Filipinos and Spaniards. It’s most likely that Filipinos were discouraged
to take a leap and improve themselves because the dominating idea was that Filipinos will never be as
good as the Spaniards.
Rizal never believed that idea. He realized that we have the potential amongst us to be as brilliant as
those in any other nation, and is able to contend with even the strongest powers if we only set our mind
to making most of what we already have. Through this poem, Rizal wants us to hold our heads high for
we possess talents and skills and abilities that would make our country proud.
According to him, we are the “fair hope of the fatherland”. As to my understanding, we can be the hope
of our nation by being great to inspire the others to strive also for greatness. Perhaps the main reason
why youth didn’t have confidence of what they could have done was because no Filipino was recognized
during Rizal’s time. Rizal calls for us to fill our young minds with noble thoughts and hopes that as we
release our thinking from the chains of discouragement that bind us, we may be able to soar swiftly high
where the joy of honor and greatness is. He dreams that in their journey to intellectual greatness we
may humble even the proudest nations that look down on us and rightfully deserve "amid the shadows
thrown….a crown’s resplendent band."
As the youth of our generation, we should do the best that we can to be great so that the next
generation would look upon us and strive also for greatness. Through this, Filipinos of the future
generations will get the confidence they need to gain self identity and stand as one nation.
rizal, between Spaniard and Filipinos nangyayari din sa kasalukuyan between rich and the poor.
One day habang pauwi ng school, sobrang lakas ng ulan. Binuksannya payong nya pero sira. Putol putol
may maganda syang future.
The end
Sabi nya kailangan
magstrive tayo for greatness para mainspire natin yung iba na magstrive din for greatness. Sa case ng
estudyante, nainspire sya ng matanda kaya nagsumikap din sya to achieve greatness. At nung naachieve
