METHOD STATEMENT OF USING FORM TIES FOR LARGE


PILE CAP FORMWORK.

Overview

The construction of form work will be made by timber structure and it could be support the
load of pile cap concrete and beam concrete. The formwork installation of wood and plywood
if necessary must be support by form ties to maintain the verticality of the surface and keep the
lateral pressure of the unhardened concrete from collapsing the formwork. In this project, the
form ties will use to large pile cap that more than 20 m3 concrete or when required by
consultant.

Materials
1. Rebar R8
2. Sika- 215 Non Shrink Grout
Work Methodology: -

1. To erect pile cap formwork, bracing as per requirement. (refer MOS Placing Formwork)

2. To install rebar as per specifications

3. To provide 2R8 as a form ties across both directions formworks at intersection point of 2"
x 4" O.T horizontal bracings and fasten at the end of it. The form ties shall install tighten
800mm interval spacing at 1/3 height and 1600mm interval spacing at 2/3 height of
formwork or if deemed necessary by Consultant (See Attachment photos).

4. After concrete pouring and dismantle the pilecaps formwork, the form ties rebar protruding
outside shall be remove and leave smooth opening 50mm diameter and depth in the
concrete surface.

5. After the form ties remove, the holes shall be thoroughly cleaned to remove all loose
particles, then using the Sika 215 non shrink grout mortar shall be carefully placed into the
hole with adequate quantity. After the holes completely filled, all excess mortar shall be struck
off flush and the surface finished in such a manner as a render the filled hole as possible.
