Overview: monographs (vol.29) state that there is sufficient evidence for the carcinogenicity in humans and limited evidence for the
carcinogenicity in animals. Benzene is also listed in the NTP Annual Report on Carcinogens and in the OSHA Subpart Z
table (Specifically Regulated Substances).
Harmful if inhaled. Causes nose and throat irritation. Vapors may affect the brain or nervous system causing dizziness,
Inhalation: headache or nausea.
Eyes: Causes severe eye irritation. Do not get in eyes.
Skin: Causes skin irritation. May cause allergic skin reaction. May be harmful if absorbed through the skin.

Lower Explosive Limit (LEL): 1 (%vol in air) at Normal Atmospheric Temp and Pressure
Flammable liquid and vapor. FLAMMABLE/COMBUSTIBLE MATERIALS: Will be easily ignited by heat,
sparks or flames. Vapors may form explosive mixtures with air. Vapors may travel to source of ignition and
Fire and Explosion Hazards: flash back. Most vapors are heavier than air. They will spread along ground and collect in low or confined
areas (sewers, basements, tanks) creating a vapor explosion hazard. Runoff to sewers may create fire or
explosion hazard. Containers may explode when heated.
CAUTION: This product has a very low flashpoint. Use of water spray when fighting fire may be inefficient.
SMALL FIRES: Use dry chemical, CO2, water spray or alcohol-resistant foam. LARGE FIRES: Use water
spray, fog, or alcohol-resistant foam. Do not use straight streams. Move containers from fire area if you can
Fire Fighting Procedures: do so without risk. Runoff from fire control may cause pollution. Dike fire control water for later disposal. Do
not scatter the material.
