Family Background
I would like to have this opportunity to introduce myself Suraj Prakash, I belong to Jalandhar in Punjab
my father is a government employee in Railway Mail Service and my mother is a home maker. I have a
younger brother who is a student

Graduation and Interest developed in Marketing


I completed my 10th in 2006 and got 87/100 marks in Mathematics. After that I scored 75/100 marks in
12th class. After that I have completed my graduation from National Institute of Technology (NIT
Jalandhar).in Industrial and Production field. Some of the Industrial subjects are related to management
like Logistics and Supply chain management, operations management, Networks and Project
management and Management Information system. Because of these subjects I found myself to be
more aligned with subjects related to business and management. To further explore myself I have
chosen all my optional subjects related to business and management, which were Marketing
Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource and Industrial Relations and Entrepreneurial
development. Beside this I also participated several marketing and debate competitions. I have joined
Marketing and publicity committee successfully bringing sponsorships for college events. I also
organized many events and I really enjoyed these activities. I was selected as Head marketing and
publicity committee in in final year. This phase developed my interest towards business and made me
realize how the combination of technical and management skills can polish my personality and improve
my abilities many fold. I found my personality to be very much synchronized with business and
management.

Work- Ex in Sales and Marketing before MBA


After graduation I have chosen to work in Sales and marketing field to explore the challenges in real
world. I have worked as business development executive in Nawanshahr. In this role my Key
Responsibility Areas were to achieve my sales targets and developing long term marketing strategy for
our product. I did enjoy my job a lot and achieve my targets. I also completed 2 sales projects in my job. I
have done marketing in nearly 200 villages during these projects. During my job I realized my true
passion is sales and marketing and I can achieve greater heights in my career through this profession
only.

MBA-Sales and Marketing


I also realized to reach at greater heights in business world I require a Professional MBA degree
specializing in sales in sales and Marketing. So, I joined FMS Delhi affiliated to University of Delhi. FMS
is one of India’s top 5 b schools in India. To secure admission in this prestigious Institute I cleared CAT
and was among Top 1% of students then after several rounds of Interviews I finally got selected in FMS.
I got 64% marks in MBA. I had my Internship in PHILIPS which is a MNC. In there I understood the
practical applications of marketing subjects. My Project was based on Go to market Strategy of PHILIPS. I
have completed 2 marketing projects in E-commerce sector with SNAPDEAL and GROFERS during my
MBA.

Work-Ex Post MBA in Sales and Marketing


In the last semester I got my Final placement in STAR INDIA which is also a MNC. I joined STAR as
Assistant Manager in Cable Corporate Sales Account. In STAR I have completed short Sales stints and
marketing projects in Mumbai, Bangalore Delhi and Kolkata after that I have been sent to Odisha. In
Odisha there was huge opportunity of learning. I was handling 94 distribution partners which is highest
in India. I have done sales and marketing at national level. I learnt about marketing strategies,
budgeting, execution of marketing plans, online marketing and channel marketing, as I was handling
channel sales or distribution sales.

Choice of Program and Future Goals


After spending a significant amount of time in STAR I observed that due to globalized nature of business
and ever increasing business relationships with different countries I must not limit myself to national
boundaries if I want to become a global leader. So, I decided to establish my career at International
level. Several MNC’s of global presence Like Olam Internationalal, Alshaya, 21st Centuary fox, Discovery
channel, the Walt Disney Company and many more. The profiles offered by these companies are all
over the globe and it is required that one must have an international exposure in Sales and Marketing.
Also candidates with international work experience are preferred for theses profiles. It is very rare that
these companies hire employees without any International experience

Hence as a logical progression I have decided to study into the program post baccalaureate diploma in
Marketing from Thompson Rivers University Kamloops. This is the exact curriculum I was looking for a
program that would give me all the desired exposure and knowledge. In this University I will study the
subject International marketing, International Business, Marketing Strategy International market
entry and International trade as well as I will have international exposure through my peers. Further,
the most important being the International Considerations in International marketing which would
introduce me to the real-world examples of International considerations in various cultural and business
settings. My credentials achieved from this course would bag me various jobs I can join as Branch
Manager, Marketing manager, Sales Head in MNC’s at international level.

TRU-Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Marketing


I have come to learn that the TRU is one of largest, most diversified and highly respected Universities in
Canada. The facilities offered by the University will help me gain experience be it social, recreational or
my personal development. This program brings together participants from all over the world, so I would
be in contact with diverse cultures and I would also develop an international network. It would be very
rewarding to share and exchange thoughts and ideas with a group of people who are from different
nationalities, cultural orientations and schools of thought on one platform.
Another factor making the Marketing program from TRU mostly people like me who have had an
experience in the job world want to upgrade their skills in a specific specialization, which is available as
Post baccalaureate diploma courses.
Why Canada
Canadian culture is more diverse and vibrant. It is considered peaceful, safe and orderly country. Being a
country of immigrants from all over the World, different perspectives are respected and learning together
is encouraged.
