Airports and Emotions
Many people spend a large part of their lives going to and coming back from airports for businesses. It’s a very lonely
journey most of the times, they’re surrounded by people, but they don’t really know any of those people.
It can be exciting, because the people travel around the world and meet new people, but they are far from their
families and friends.
At the airport you can see a variety of human emotions. There is the sadness of people leaving for a far away place,

Turbulence may feel uncomfortable, but it is normal.
People often misunderstand turbulence. When experiencing turbulence, nervous passengers feel the plane is “falling”
out of the sky. It is natural for them to only feel the “down” bumps. But for every “down” there is an “up” bump. The
“downs” are just more easily noticed. The air is usually very smooth. But sometimes some small ripples can make it feel
like “bad” turbulence!
It is important for pilots to avoid turbulent areas. Passing through turbulent areas can cause damage to the aircraft. It
can also cause injury to crew and passengers. Pilots can avoid turbulence by taking note of weather reports and always
watching their radar reports to know where are the stormy areas. When passing through turbulence the pilots needs to
turn on the fasten seat belt signs so that passengers and crew will be seated
If the plane does experience severe turbulence it is the job of the flight attendants to keep the situation under control.
They must make sure that the passengers are seated and have their seat belts fastened. Some passengers may be
afraid. The flight attendants can try to help calm them down.
If there are any injuries, the flight attendants should give first aid treatment to the injured passengers. In extreme
cases, pilots will need to divert and land the plane sooner to attend to seriously injured passengers.

A smoker may have caused an alert at Bay Airport after a plane with 137 people on board made an emergency landing.
The FastJet 190 flight from Sydney to Tokyo landed safely after being diverted to Brisbane following reports of a fire on
board. Nine fire engines and eight ambulances were put on alert at the airport to deal with the incident on Tuesday. The
fire was put out by crew members and no one on board was hurt.
A spokesman for FastJet said the fire started in the toilet of the aircraft. He said: “We are looking at the possibility that

Security scans show naked images of passengers
In the good old days, all passengers had to do when traveling by airplane was to remove their jackets and maybe shoes
when passing through a metal detector in the security area. Well, it used to be this way long before the tragedy in Sep-
tember 11th, 2001. After this sad date, passengers had to remove a little bit more, like belts and jewelry. People started
to get afraid of passing through the security area, and in many comedy shows jokes were made about passengers re-
moving their pants when passing through security in the future! Those who were afraid of this day can relax now: a scan
machine was invented to avoid this fearful day.
This new scan machine, called body scan, is basically an x-ray machine that produces detailed naked images of passen-
gers to increase the security on board. This scan is already in use in some airports around the world, like in New York
city, Washington and at the British International airport.
This full body scan is able to identify instantly any weapon or explosive hidden in any part of a passenger’s body. It’s ca-
pable of revealing a detailed outline of passenger’s genitalia, piercings and breast enlargements. The good news is that
the person who will analyze the passenger’s image isn’t the person next to the machine, but someone in a distant room
