Chapter I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

Introduction

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to identify the effect of the disruptive behavior of the pupils on

their academic achievement and to improve classroom management.

Specifically, it sought answers to the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the pupils in terms of:

1.1. Gender;

1.2. Attitude toward schooling;

1.3. Study habits; and,

1.4. Family background?


2. What is the level of academic achievement of the Grade Three pupils in all

subject area in SY: 2015-2016?

3. How do teachers perceived their Grade Three pupils in terms of:

3.1. Gender;

3.2. Attitude toward schooling;

3.3. Study habits; and,

3.4. Family background?

4. Is there a significant relationship between the profile of the pupils and disruptive

behavior in schools?

5. Is there a significant relationship between the pupils’ disruptive behavior and their

academic achievement?

6. What classroom management program may be designed?

Significance of the Study

This study intends to gather data that will help various groups of people,

especially those who are in schools and institutions.

The school administrators, this study may serve as bases for the formulation of

the classroom management program for an effective teaching-learning process. This

will also assist in identifying disciplinary measures for the pupils of the school.

The teachers, it will become a springboard in determining if the pupil’s behavior

has an effect to their academic achievement. This study will also be way to determine

effective classroom management program which will be beneficial to the teaching-


learning process. It is also a help to identify disciplinary actions to be imposed in a child-

centered classroom.

The pupils, this study will help them be supported effectively in their scholastic

performances. With behavioral problems, this study will help address it properly.

The Researcher, this study could inspire other researchers and educators to

conduct researches regarding classroom managment practices for quality education.

Scope and Delimitation

This study focused on the disruptive behavior of the pupils and its effect on the

academic achievement on SY: 2015-2016 as the basis for improving classroom

management program. The questionnaire will identify the level of academic

performance of the pupils and their behavior in the classroom. The aspects considered

are the profile of the pupils, the level of academic achievement and the perception of

the teachers towards the behavior of the pupils.

unison understanding:
