I am excited to welcome you to the start of our 2018-2019 school year!

For those who I

have not yet met I want to introduce myself; I am Ms. Velazquez and will be your child’s
first grade teacher this year. I was able to get my teaching degree from Washington
State University. I became a teacher to be an influence to our future generations and an
impact to our children’s educational development. I look forward to getting to know
each and every one of you, as well as your child. I plan to prepare them to have an
awesome, fun, and successful school year. I want my students to grow and get the most
they can out of my class. At the end of the year we will be amazed as how much your
child will learn and grow!
Through the years I’ve come across the quote that “the loveliest flowers usually have
the best gardener”-- to your child that’s YOU as their parent! Encouragement and
involvement from home is just as important as what your child will be learning in school.
I will be sending a monthly newsletter to highlight any important dates, events, or news
for that month. This will help you stay informed on what is going on in school. On a daily
basis, I will be sending your child home with a folder of papers your child can “Take
Home” and keep, and papers I will need responses from you or just have your review
and “Return to School”. This will help me be organized with school work but allow you
see your child’s work and what they are doing in class. Along with the folder I will
include a monthly calendar that will have your child color in the day based off of a key
on their behavior that day. This will help us both keep track of their good or bad days
and be open to any comments or questions that may arise.
You are more than welcomed to email, or call me any time you have a question
concerning your child’s progress. If at any time your child is having a problem, academic,
social, or emotional please let me know, I will be more than willing to help to identify
the cause. It is a great privilege and responsibility to be your child’s teacher this year
and I can’t wait to see what we have in store!

Sincerely,

Ms. Ruby Velazquez-Perez
