Himmeli History
The himmeli, a Finnish decoration traditionally made out of straw, remains popular today. We make it longer lasting, we
make them from metal - employing local craftsmen. Although the root of the word “himmeli” is Germanic – in Swedish
and German himmel means “sky” or “heaven” – and different versions of this straw mobile can be found in other Nordic
countries, the himmeli is considered the classic traditional Finnish decoration.

We use skilled craftsmen from our local community to manufacture these metal items for Elsje Designs - committed to local production and
support of small businesses. This product is epoxy coated, giving it a high quality finish and makes it weather resistant and waterproof.

Himmeli 2 is a pentagon prism (5 sides), made from metal: This Himmeli can either be displayed as a hanging mobile or

National Museum in Austria. The awe of the

Terms and Conditions

Ÿ Elsje Designs is not registered for VAT.
Ÿ A minimum first purchase order of R3 000 is required to
qualify for wholesale prices.
Ÿ All top up orders must be at least R1 000 or more.
Ÿ All our products are made in the Western Cape by skilled
craftsmen from the local communities, therefor slight
variations may occur due to their handmade nature.
Ÿ A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to process your
order.
Ÿ Elsje Designs has the right to discontinue any products, but
deposits will be fully refunded on these products.
Ÿ Lead times may vary, we work on an average of 2 to 4
weeks.
Ÿ Stock will be dispatched on receipt of final outstanding
payment - strictly COD.
Ÿ Prices does not include courier/delivery costs.
