OBJECTIVES:
General: students will:
1. understand the importance of body systems
2. appreciate the variety of organs and their functions as a major aspect of all living things.
3. develop an appreciation higher order thinking and practical skills
Specific: at the end of the lesson students should :
Prior knowledge
Students will be asked to name things found inside their bodies. Make a list on chart paper or the
chalkboard.
Students will be asked to state if they know what role the body parts listed on the chalkboard play inside
of the body.
Teacher will show students a simple machine (ie. a can opener) to show how the parts work
together. Then discuss with students, that the organs in the body work together in groups called
system.
Explore:
Students will be divided into pairs or groups of three. Each group will be assigned a body
system. Some choices are the skeletal system, muscular system, circulatory system, nervous
system, respiratory system, digestive system, and the excretory system.
Students will then trace their organ on a piece of paper

Discussion – what may happen if any particular organ went missing

Teacher will direct an oral quiz titled WHO M I ? about the body systems
(HOD)
