Sarung Banggi- A kundiman is a Filipino love song traditionally sung by a


man wooing the woman of his dreams. Sometimes, the young man will be
accompanied by friends as he serenades (harana) the woman in the
evening. With the familiar strains of the guitar, the suitor pours out his
emotions through a song, usually one which speaks of loneliness or even
lack of self-worth.
Santa Cruzan- The Santacruzan (from the Spanish santa cruz, "holy
cross") is the ritual pageant held on the last day of the Flores de Mayo. It
honors the finding of the True Cross by Helena of Constantinople (known
as Reyna Elena) and Constantine the Great. Its connection with May stems
from the May 3 date of Roodmas, which Pope John XXIII deleted in 1960
due to the trend at the time to abolish holy days.

Balitaw- Balitaw is a type of folk song originating in the Visayas islands of


the Philippines. It is a form of dialogue or debate in song, in which a man
and woman compete at improvising romantic verses. It was originally
accompanied by a three-string coconut-shell guitar, but later a harp
became more popular for accompaniment.
Harana was a traditional form of courtship in the Philippines wherein men
introduced themselves and/or wooed women by singing underneath her
window at night. It was widely practiced in old Philippines with a set of
protocols, a code of conduct and a specific style of music.

Kundiman- is a genre of traditional Filipino love songs. The lyrics of


the Kundiman are written in Tagalog. The melody is characterized by a
smooth, flowing and gentle rhythm with dramatic intervals. Kundiman was
the traditional means of serenade in the Philippines.
