Method Statement For Pull Out Test
OBJECTIVE
GUIDELINES
1. Pull-out test result should meet the minimum required Design Load.
2. For anchors, Proof Resistance of 1.4 times the Recommended Resistance (Design
Resistance with reference to Fischer Handbook International) should be used as a
guideline. If there is anchor design calculation done by Fischer, the Design Resistance
should be used. For testing of non-Fischer anchor / cast-in channel, client is to provide
the references test load value.
3. For Anchor, Proof Resistance of 1.4 times the Recommended Resistance (Design
Resistance with reference to Fischer Handbook International) should be used as a

guideline, provided that it does not exceed the ultimate service limit (95% of yield
strength of steel).
4. Thread engagement between fixing and coupler should be adequate to take the applied
load and for Ultimate Resistance Testing should be at least 1.5 x d, where d = nominal
diameter of the thread under test.

5. The load-measuring gauge should be accurate to within 10% of the readings. This
equipment should be recalibrated annually / bi-annually, by a laboratory with load
measuring equipment whose calibration is traceable to national standards such as Sirim.
6. The consulting engineer requesting the tests should decide the number of tests required,
however, the following guidelines may be used as reference.
EQUIPMENTS
The equipment is illustrated in the picture below. Setup of the tester can be vertical,
horizontal or at an angle depending on site condition. Analog display is used to monitor the
loading during the test.

4. Setting up Fischer Hydrajaws Pull Off Tester on the anchor and ensure load spreading
bridge is in leveled condition based on bubble level by manually adjust the adjustable
legs.
5. Ensure all locking nuts on load spreading bridge had been tighten accordingly.
6. Install the load gauge meter.

7. Before the test, adjust the red pointer on the load gauge meter reading to zero.
8. Increase the loading by manually turning the load screw clockwise gradually until the
required test load is attained. Hold this load and observe any falling back of the gauge
pointer which would indicate movement and possible failure of the fastener. Record the
satisfactory load. The red pointer indicate the highest load achieved.
9. Release the load on the fastener by turning the operation handle anti-clockwise and
allowing the test jaw to return to the original position.
10. Maximum pull out load capacity dependent on model and are listed below:
a. Model 2000: 25kN maximum capacity
b. Model 2050: 50kN maximum capacity
TEST REPORT
1. After each test, a soft copy test report is produced to record the details. Soft copy report
will email to customer directly. Hard copy test report will only be prepared upon request
with additional charges applied. The original will be kept in Defix’s office for record
purposes.
2. Test report will include testing site details, personnel involvement, product information,
applications details, method and procedure of test, equipment info, reports, and
calibration certificates.
3. Test report lead time is 7 working days from date of testing
