Combined Power Cycle
A combined Power cycle is based on the coupling of two different power cycles
such that the waste heat from one cycle is used partially or totally as the heat source
for other cycle.
Two power cycle are combined:
➢ Gas-turbine (Brayton) topping cycle.
➢ Steam-turbine (Rankine) cycle.

Cogeneration System
The Technique of sequential production of energy usually electrical and thermal
from single energy source is called cogeneration.
➢ A more advanced approach is to incorporate into overall system, the concept of coal
gasification, a combined cycle,& cogeneration.
➢ Thermal to electric ratio between 1.5 to 2.5 indicate an overall efficiency of 60 to 70
percent.
➢ Low cost.
➢ Low emission to the environment.
➢ Low water usage.
