I. Read the text below then identify the tenses used!

A good old man, had raised money to have his big clock
repaired, but he did not manage to get enogh money. The clock
stopped striking since the last war and became silent ever since.

One night, however, he woke up hearing the clock


striking the hours! It was one o’clock, but the bell stuck thirteen
times. He took a flashlight and went to see what was going on
with the clock. In the dark, he caught a glimpse of man. He
turned out to be his brother, Jose.

“What are you doing, Jose?” asked the old man.

“I’ve come here every evening for a week to repair your clock. I was going to
surprise you,” answered Jose.

“You will have given me a surprise by the time the clock strikes one at one
o’clock.”

“That’s the problem. It’ll strike thirteen times at one o’clock.”

“It’s OK. You did a good job!”

the end of the race. Look! As soon as the car is coming, mechanics are running to
it, checking and tuning the car. They must finish the work in a minute in order not
