COMPETENCY-BASED CURRICULUM
COURSE DESIGN
This course is designed to equip the individual the desirable attitudes and
skills of the land transport light vehicle driver in accordance with industry standards,
including the regulatory requirements issued by appropriate regulatory bodies,
government and/or private. It covers the following four core competencies: Carry Out
Vehicle Maintenance and Servicing, Drive Light Vehicles, Obey and Observe Traffic
Rules and Regulations and Implement and Coordinate Accident/Emergency
Procedures. It covers the basic, common and core competencies.
This course is also designed to equip the individual the basic and common
knowledge , skills and attitudes of the land transport light vehicle driver in
accordance with industry standards.

CORE COMPETENCIES
MODULE DESCRIPTION : This unit involves the skills and knowledge and
attitudes required to carry out basic servicing and
maintenance of a light vehicle such as cleaning the
vehicle. It also includes the action to implement the
vehicle manufacturer’s specifications for routine
checks and maintenance and that the vehicle is
operational to the requirements of both the
workplace and the relevant road and traffic
authority.
MODULE DESCRIPTION : This unit involves the skills and knowledge and
attitudes required to drive a light vehicle safely
including handling of passengers, systematic and
efficient control of all vehicle functions, monitoring
of traffic and road conditions, management of
vehicle condition, and performance and effective
management of hazardous situations.
MODULE DESCRIPTION : This unit involves the skills and knowledge and
attitudes required in obeying and observing traffic
rules and regulations while driving light vehicle.
