Course Title/Name : Computer System Installation, Troubleshooting and Repair
Course Credits : 2 units
Course Description : This course deals with computer hardware organization, computer software, computer periperals such as monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, scanners, as well as
expansion cards. Hardware discussions involve the purposes, types, and characteristics of the motherboard, microprocessor technology,
memory, and the hard disk. Laboratory highlights include PC assembly/disassembly, hard disk partitioning and formatting, operating system and application software
installation, basic computer maintenance and troubleshooting, PC upgrading (hardware and driver installation) and advanced computer troubleshooting.
Contact Hours/week : 6 hours ( 3 hrs Lec., 3 hrs Lab )
Course Objectives : At the end of the semester, the students must have:
1. Identify the types, functions, and characteristics of the different PC peripherals
2. Identify the functions of the different PC software
3. Perform PC disassembly and assembly
4. Perform basic PC maintenance and troubleshooting
5. Perform hard disk formatting and partitioning
6. Perform basic PC upgrading
