Shoot Plan

For this shoot I am planning to use coloured lighting

that I have in my room and my phone screen to create
different patterns and colours on varied objects. I will be
doing this shoot at night; this is in order to get complete
darkness for intense lighting. I will be using my Canon
DSLR 300D to take photographs with varied shutter
speeds and apertures.
When editing the images, I would like to use very
intense effects to create un-naturalistic images, with
violent colours and shapes. The photos should look far
from naturalistic in order to make them look surreal.
Contact Sheet
This print expresses a powerful message of feminism; by zooming in whilst taking
the picture, it allowed this elongated effect to create a powerful, motivational
message. I think that this image successfully complimented the aim of the shoot plan
and created its own interpretation by doing so.
This thermal like photograph creates an intense and violent atmosphere; the
complete contrast in colours (to myself) makes the image uncomforting. By
having the photo like this, it could be used to inform or teach a viewer
something, the message the image is teaching can be open for interpretation.
This image has a softer effect to the previous two prints, the lighting is less violent and has
more of a subtle tonal range. By using the creases in my pillowcase to create this sequence
it reflects the the connotations of the colour pink within its structure; caring, soft, pretty, girly.
I particularly like this print I produced because of the swirled patterns. It has a
very abstract look to it, making the water look almost potion like. The different
tones within the water create a complete range lines going in various directions
making the photograph calming, the warm tones also enhance this idea.
Shoot Evaluation
I was put outside my comfort zone for this shoot
however, I liked experimenting with lighting and
photoshop in order to create wacky abstract
images. Moreover, by using a water bottle with
water in, it allowed the light to create patterns on
the reflections of the water (print 4). I particularly
enjoyed how you can turn a very simple photo into
something extreme in photoshop without being very
technical. Another idea I could have used for this
shoot would have been to put water on a different
surface and use light to change its appearance.
