    1. Stop - step back – observe
    2. Think through and talk through the task
    Before you start: 3. Identify hazards
    4. Control and communicate
    • Team leader must be trained in JSA process. 5. Do the job safely
    • Participants doing the work must contribute in the JSA.
    STOP – THINK - DO – REVIEW
    • You must involve people with knowledge of the job.
    • Is a current JSA available? Review Remember things change. Monitor and review your
    analysis regularly, e.g. if you come back from a break or
    • Obtain the MSDS for any chemicals to be handled. any circumstances change.

    Steps to JSA:
    1. On the form, break the job into steps. Hierarchy of Controls
    2. Identify the hazards related to each step 1. Eliminate hazard
    3. Implement control measures in order to mitigate the hazards 2. Substitute hazard
    4. Use the hierarchy of controls 3. Isolate the hazard
    5. Communicate JSA to your team 4. Use engineering controls
    6. Ensure that everyone in the team contributes 5. Use administrative controls
    and signs off the JSA 6. Use PPE
