The Mahatma Mandir Convention & Exhibition Centre is an integrated

development comprising of a Heads of States Centre, Convention facilities,
Exhibition halls, an open-to-air amphitheatre, expansive lawns, Retail shops
and easy access museum on the life & principles of Mahatma Gandhi and
the 300 room, The Leela Gandhinagar.
Inspired by the tenets of Mahatma Gandhi, this architectural marvel has an
abundance of natural light & airy spaces. While the innovatively designed
spinning wheel generates energy that helps illuminate the complex, access
to the mound-shaped Dandi Kutir by way of a suspension bridge is symbolic
of the Dandi March that played a significant role in India's Independence
Movement.
The Complex

Convention facilities, Exhibition halls and Dandi Kutir
• Can accommodate up to 15,000 delegates

transportation hub

• Rest rooms with provision for differently abled delegates

The Convention Centre
A convention centre has column free air-conditioned halls with capacity to
accommodate over 15,000 people at a time. Its theatre style main hall has
capacity of 6000 people. Exhibition halls are built over 10,000 sq. ft (930 m2)
area. It has four seminar halls (three having seating capacity of 500 and one
with capacity of 1000), seven high tech conference halls and a meeting
room. Spread across 34 acres, it is one of the biggest state-of-art facilities in
India, uniquely designed to combine a sense of aesthetics, functionality and
flexibility. The 20,000 sq. of Convention and Exhibition area has an
abundance of natural light and airy spaces and is equipped with energy
efficient lighting and waste water management

• Gandhi Garden can accommodate over 2000 guests
• Multi-level Food Court that can accommodate over 2500 guests
• 16 Retail Shops to facilitate shopping requirements
Inferences
• Segregation of vehicular and pedestrian entry.

• The site is being catered on all four sides thus providing different
entries for each block.
• The whole structure is divided into number of small building blocks
providing breathing space between them and allowing natural
ventilation to occur.
• The green roof of the exhibition halls and convention space prevents
direct solar radiations from sun thus lowering load on the air
conditioning units.
• Symbolic representations have been used to co-relate this project
with mahatma Gandhi as the suspension bridge is being related to
the dandi march this provides context to the project.
• The open spaces between the buildings has been used for other
purposes such as open exhibitions.
