METHOD 1 (Pain in supination – towards lateral)

PT 2 LAB (NOTES) 1. Flex elbow and Supinate

Ki- yan-nyoh
2. 90o Flexion and full supination (palm up)
3. Prowrap – use if not balbon / allergic
UE TAPING a. Ask proctor if its ok not to use
- Plantar fasciitis prowrape
- Low age 4. Apply anchor strip at the mid forearm level
- Anti – pronation (No tension)
- Can be used for: 5. Minimize wrinkles
1. Stabilize a. Attach to anchor
2. Move 6. Remember (don’t pronate) – pull laterally
(outward)
1) Acromioclavicular jt strap – AC joint 7. Pull toward supination (Tension)
2) Tennis elbow 8. Attach to below elbow (Remember: arm is
3) Inferior Radioulnar jt taping flexed)
4) Finger taping/ Buddy taping 9. Attach to biceps anteriorly
5) Thumb spica a. There will be restriction in
supination
AC JOINT 10. Apply another strip (3-5 strips) – depends on
- Sprain level on restriction desired
- Ex. In soccer, goal keeper 11. Apply closing
- Acromioclavicular ligament 12. Apply 1 on forearm & 1 at upper arm
o Clavicle is on acromion a. Whole circumference of the arm
- Uses white tape (non adhesive)? 13. Cannot Fully extend
o Ex slouched
1) Sit upright (ask for any allergies for adhesive) METHOD 2 for Tennis elbow – TENDERNESS O PAIN
2) Retract shoulder 1. Bunch of skin – tender area
3) Landmark a. Pressure on the folding
a. One inch above the nipple (middle 2. Get small strip at the tape
pectoralis) -> over shoulder (pull 3. Apply tape (there will be skin fold)
down here) -> inferior angle of the 4. 2-3 hrs -> sometimes 5
scapula a. Because there is fold -> might lead
4) No tension on anterior (tension is posterior- to blisters
inferior)
5) Don’t use palm – use knuckles (professional INFERIOR RADIOULNAR JT. (FOOSH injury) / Colle’s
looking idk) Fracture
6) 2nd strip - Radius on lateral
a. 50% overlapping the 1st (no tension - Ulna medial
anterior aspect, posterior – tension) - It happens when off balance
7) Apply closing/ support strip w/ NO TENSION - When fell on outstretch hand – FOOSH injury
on the anterior then posterior (encircling the o Ulnar wont move
body) 1. Push ulna dorsally – back (Anatomically
8) Use bandage (Elastic Bandage) position)
2. 1st strip on ventral aspect of ulna
TENNIS ELBOW 3. Apply posterior/ dorsal push on the ulna
- Lateral epicondyle 4. Apply tension
- Common extensor of the wrist 5. Pull
- Palpate for the (belly of the extensor muscle) 6. When radial aspect release tension
o Flicking the wrist 7. Ask supination & Pronation (to see if taping
o Extension of the wrist worked)
- Common for house wives 8. Apply closing/ corrective strap
o Repetitive forceful gripping - If there is pain apply 50% overlap toward the
o Stretch more at pronation elbow
 Palm down
o Tingin ko supination
FINGER TAPING / BUDDY TAPING CHOPARTS
METHOD 1 - (PRO WRAP ONLY)
1. Apply diagonal direction tape (half yung - Application of pseudoinsertion
tape) 1. Palpate for medial of patella
a. Hati sa gitna yung tape 2. Use prowrap (fold)
2. Cross basket weaving -> overlapping diagonal 3. Prowrap on below leg (start ikot)
( like X) a. Tension is anterior
a. No tension 4. Prowrap up to leg
3. Apply strip Diagonal up 5. Roll up and down towards folded prowrap
4. Diagonal down - Effective: if pinasquat mo siya and pain is
5. Note: USE ADHESIVE decreased
6. Use prowrap (underwrap) between 2 fingers
– no tension MCL Pain & ACL
7. USE THIS IF SEVERE - For restriction of movement
METHOD 2 Knee Sprain / ACL / MCL
1. Use prowrap – pinch between 2 fingers Goal: to prevent knee hyperextension; to
2. Apply tape on both fingers reinforce lateral and medial sides of the knee,
3. CAN BEND specifically the medial of MCL
4. Use this if fingers hurt for extension Position of the knee: FLEXION
-by having the affected side/leg step on a Mueller
tape; slightly lunging
THUMP SPICA (SPRAIN ON THUMB)
1. Apply anchor strip over the wrist (No
1. Apply Prowrap from lower 1/3 of thigh to
tension) upper 1/3 of leg. NO TENSION. Starting from
2. Thumb is flexed medial to lateral, superior to inferior.
3. Anchor (ULNAR CONDYLE) -> dorsum of the
thumb (no tension) -> on the 1st web space -> 2. Apply anchor strips. NO TENSION. For superior
(apply tension) -> Ulnar condyle anchor strips, apply second by overlapping ½
4. Get half I (real strips) inferiorly. For inferior anchor strips, apply second
by overlapping ½ superiorly.
5. To reinforce apply 2nd (50% overlapping)
*if MCL tear, reinforce medial side of knee, so
LE TAPING patient’s leg must be on IR.
3. Apply tape from posteromedial side of leg to
PATELLOFEMORAL PAIN SYNDROME anterior side of thigh. NO TENSION.
1. Area is clean (shaved)
a. Push down against the (towel? WTF 4. Apply tape from anterior side of leg to
posteromedial side of thigh. WITH TENSION.
DID I WRITE)
b. Patella will be raised 5. Apply tape from posterolateral side of leg to
i. Ex. Medial is weak -> anterior thigh. WITH TENSION.
patella will go to lateral
6. Apply tape from anterior side of leg to
ii. Lateral Gliding
posterolateral thigh. NO TENSION.
2. Push medial / Lateral
3. Apply tape on lateral 7. Apply 2nd layer of tapes.
4. Then put it over the patella
- For #3, apply overlapping ½ laterally.
5. Pull down at medial side
6. If weak quad (patella will rotate) - For #4 apply overlapping ½ laterally.
7. Apply tape upward (because in the case its
rotated downwards) - For #5, apply overlapping ½ medially.
a. Lateral tipping weak medial quads - For #6, apply overlapping ½ medially.
8. Relax Quads
9. Palpate middle part of patella 8. Apply just one (1) reinforcing strip on superior
a. Mcconnel taping and inferior. NO TENSION.
10. Tape on middle and pull toward medial
* Apply Check Rein (Butterfly) strips at the
posterior. Knee should be slightly flexed.
9. Vertical strip from inferior to superior.
10. 1st diagonal strip from posteromedial of leg a. Pull after foot
to posterolateral of thigh. DRAWING
11. 2nd diagonal strip from posterolateral of leg
to posteromedial of thigh.
12. Reinforcing strips. Inferior, then superior. NO
TENSION.
4. 4th strip
ADDITIONAL UE a. Lateral to medial
5. Closing
TRAPEZIUS a. Allow space for swelling
- Upper Trapz 6. NOTE: Heel is open / has a gap
- Ends at T10
- Inverted U shape PLANTAR FASCIITIS
1. Palpate for middle part of clavicle - Swelling / pamamaga of the plantar fascia
2. Tape at clavicle - Hurts for every step
3. Pull when at the posterior METHOD 1
4. End tape at T10 – 2 Inches below the inferior 1. Anchor
angle of the scapula a. Lateral -> Metatarsal head -> medial
5. Overlap by 75% (anterior pull) (NOT CLOSED)
6. No closing b. 50 % Overlap
- Flat foot more to planta fasciitis
LOWBACK 2. 3 to 4 layers
- Prone position 3. If uneven, apply covers
o Therefore it is retracted METHOD 2
1. Anchor on lumbar are (1st tape) 1. Ask for allergies
a. No tension 2. Apply anchor to whole metatarsal head
nd
2. 2 strip PCIS 3. Half strip Lateral to Lateral (tension behind)
a. No tension 4. Half strip medial to Medial
3. Put an X (strip?) 5. Closing
a. No tension 6. To check – ask pt to stand
nd
4. 2 Layer – 100% overlap 7. Check blood flow (blue)
5. Closing a. Pinch on nail bed and must see
a. Like check rein (White to red)
b. 50% Overlap (just cover it)
i. According to maam Arlene ANTI-PRONATION (FOOT)
c. Cover Horizontal & Vertical on sides - Calcaneous abduct
DRAWING - Arch is down (nakabagsak)
1. Foot at the end of the bed
2. Foot is neutral
3. Anchor
a. Behind and below the metatarsal
head
LE CONTINUATION 4. 2nd strip
a. From Anchor (Medially) ->
FOOT superomedially to tendon Achilles
(around) -> down (tension) -> back
OPEN BASKET WEAVE to medial
- For acute ankle sprain -> swelling 5. 2 – 3 layers 75% overlap
- Allows pain for swelling 6. Closing – no tension
1. 1st strip - Incomplete anchor strip 7. There will be tension when pt stands up
a. 10 cm above the lateral malleolus
2. 2nd strip
a. On metatarsals (plantar aspect) or
root of toes
3. 3rd Apply vertical strips from medial to lateral
LOW DYE (PLANTAR FASCITIIS & FLAT FOOTAL) 8. From anterior side -> ikot sa Achilles-> below
- Anti - fasciitis foot to anchor
1. Start laterally at 5th metatarsal head (small a. 2 Lateral : 1 Medial
toe?) 9. Lock / Close
2. Depress the 1st metatarsal head (big toe) 10. Figure of 8 – for added stability
3. Around the heel 11. Anterior -> medial cross lateral -> cross
4. End at 1st metatarsal head achellis -> go back to anterior
5. Lateral to medial tape (sa bandang harap) 12. Close gaps
6. Tension at medial
7. Overlap by 50% (2-3) layers If taking off, tanggal from lateral.
8. Closing by Covering the anterior

ANTERIOR (PROPHYLACTING)
- Instability of ankle at lateral side
- Inferio tibio-fibular taping
1. 1st tape
a. Anterior aspect of the malleolus
(lateral)
2. Push posteriorly
3. Spiral at Achilles
4. Up to lateral leg

PROPHYLACTIC TAPING
- Medial – Lateral
o For Sprain – tearing of ligament
1. Add padding
2. Pro wrap leg
DRAWING

3. Anchor at both ends

DRAWING

4. From medial to lateral (2 -3 strips)

DRAWING

5.Lateral to medial
a. For stability only
b. Only 1 strip
6. LOCK VERTICAL STRIP
DRAWING

7. Heel lock
a. Lock calcaneus in eversion
