I. WHAT IS AN ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR (OB)?


 Is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, of the interface between
human behavior and the organization itself.
 It shows the linkages among human behavior in organizational settings, the
individual-organizational interface, the organization itself and the environment
surrounding the organization. Each individual brings to an organization a unique
set of personal background and set of experiences from other organization.

1. Define organizational behavior in your own words.

2. As a tourism student, why is it important to study Organizational Behavior (OB)?

II. ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND MANAGEMENT PROCESS


 In characterizing managerial work most educators and other experts find it useful
to conceptualize the activities performance by managers as reflecting one or more
of four basic functions.
 These functions are generally referred to as planning, organizing, leading and
controlling.

III. ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND THE MANAGER’S JOB
 As they engage in the basic management functions previously described,
managers often find themselves playing a variety of different roles.
 Moreover, in order to perform the functions most effectively and to be successful
in various roles, managers must draw upon a set of critical skills.
