Course Description Establishment and management of tree and non-tree nurseries, plantations and agroforestry farms, and timber stand
improvement.
Course Credits Three (3) units
Contact Hours Five (5) hours / Week – 2 hrs lec. and 3 hrs laboratory
Prerequisite Introduction to Forestry

OBJECTIVES OF THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN FORESTRY

Graduates of the BSF program are professionals who:
1. have developed the scientific habit of thought and forestry entrepreneurial skills
(COGNITIVE/PSYCHOMOTOR/ SKILLS);
2. were globally competitive professionals with entry – level competencies in technical forestry
(PSYCHOMOTOR/ SKILLS);
3. were honed to understand and apply the processes and techniques of identifying, diagnosing and analyzing

development and conservation of the forest, soil and water resources

5. Formulate, package, implement, and evaluate forest management-related research, development and extension
programs, projects and policies.
At the end of the course, the students are expected to:

3. develop basic skills on seed production, treatments in hastening seed germination, seed testing and seed
storage & protection;
4. analyze and synthesize the management strategies and approaches applicable to tree and non-tree nurseries;
5. apply effectively the principles of establishing tree and non-tree nurseries, plantation and agroforestry farm;
6. come up with a nursery plan that showcases their skills in nursery establishment;
7. employ the knowledge and skills in performing initial timber stand improve for tree and non-tree
plantation.

2. Class Participation. Students must be active on the chat group created solely for the course for updates
whenever necessary.
3. Examination. Online examination is much encouraged. Make-up exam will only be given for those who have
valid reasons.
4. Submission of Requirements. Class requirements are to be submitted on time. Reasonable deduction/s will be
imposed for late submission depending on instructor’s discretion.
5. Intellectual Integrity. Cheating and plagiarizing are strictly prohibited (dishonesty shall be dealt with
accordingly).
6. Proper Conduct. Observe proper decorum at all times. Student’s attitude towards instructor, classmates and
even task accomplishment will be the basis for the work ethics grade.
