Course Title Health and Fitness
Course Description This course involves basic movement skills for body mechanics, self – testing skills, basic motor skills, Perceptual
and manipulative skills, and other movement activities for the improvement and maintenance of health and
physical fitness.
Course Credits Two (2) units
Contact Hours Two (2) Hours / Week
Prerequisite None

GOALS OF THE COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES:


1. Production of highly trained health care and nutrition professionals with proper work values and attitudes;
2. Meet the educational and developmental needs of the society by providing quality health care education; and
3. Establishment of strong linkages among the health care institutions within the region and beyond.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES:


1. To provide students with theoretical and experiential learnings based on academic standards and utilization of
modern laboratories;
2. To produce morally upright health care and nutrition professionals;
3. To conduct research and extension activities in relation to the needs of the society that will contribute to socio-
economic development;
4. To apply the concepts of comprehensive health and nutritional care for the total wellness of the community;
and
5. To strengthen partnerships with health care organizations for effective integration of needed related-learning
experiences.

OBJECTIVES OF THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NUTRITION AND DIETETICS:


1. To promote the role of nutrition and dietetics profession for human well-being in relation to the needs,
resources and potentials of individuals, groups and families;
2. To practice comprehensive nutritional care for the total wellness of individuals in a multi-disciplinary and
multi-cultural settings;
3. To integrate nutrition concerns with local and national development efforts;
4. To manage nutrition programs for individuals, groups and institutions;
5. To manage a foodservice unit in hospital or other settings;
6. To implement an economically viable activity related to nutrition and dietetics;
7. To design and/or conduct a scientific study on food, nutrition and related topics;
8. To uphold ethical standards of the profession; and
9. To engage in lifelong learning activities.

At the end of the semester, the students should be able to:

Course Policies 1. Attendance. The total number of attendance will be based on the total number of outputs ( 1 output= 1 day).
Status of attendance and points will depend on the promptness of submission:
a. on time submission = present (1 pt.)
b. beyond deadline submission = late (0.5 pt.)
c. non- submission = absent (0 pt.)

2. Class Participation. Students must be active on the chat group created solely for the course for updates
whenever necessary.
3. Examination. Online examination is much encouraged. Make-up exam will only be given for those who have
valid reasons.
4. Submission of Requirements. Class requirements are to be submitted on time. Reasonable deduction/s will be
imposed for late submission depending on instructor’s discretion. 
5. Intellectual Integrity. Cheating and plagiarizing are strictly prohibited (dishonesty shall be dealt with
accordingly).
6. Proper Conduct. Observe proper decorum at all times. Student’s attitude towards instructor, classmates and
even task accomplishment will be the basis for the work ethics grade.
