    VETH tunnel thrusters
    The tunnel thrusters are manufactured using high quality materials and measure up to
    the strictest classification demands. The complete design gets a lot of attention: from the
    gears, the bearings and the oil seals up to the streamlined under water housing for optimal
    efficiency and minimal cavitation.

    Upon request Veth Propulsion can also


    deliver the drive line. We can supply
    the electric motor and the frequency
    controller for an electrically driven bow
    thruster. Our experience is extensive
    and this makes it possible to advice
    our customers about the different
    possibilities. Depending on the required
    power we can also deliver the generator
    set or shaft generator. This way the
    electrical input and speed control
    comply with the requirements.

    Selection should always be made in consultation with Veth Propulsion.
    Various applications possible
    It can be advantageous to drive the tunnel thruster with a hydraulic motor when hydraulic power
    is available on board. Diesel direct drive is also possible. That set up requires an extra gearbox
    with a 90° angle gear set and a reversing coupling.

    A special version of the Veth tunnel thruster is the retractable tunnel. This version has its
    applications in vessels for the off-shore industry. In the upper position this version will function
    like a regular tunnel thruster. After lowering the thruster under the vessel it has all the possibilities
    like a 360° steerable rudder propeller.

    Our electronic department develops our own control systems. The control panels are easy to
    operate and are delivered fully tested and ready to install.
