Activity: Drawing of a MICROSCOPE


Objective:
Learners will be able to:
Identify and familiarize the different parts of the microscope and learn its functions.

Introduction:
Microscope is the most indispensable apparatus in biology. As Biology studies life and
living organisms it also covers an enormous and complex specialized disciplines that focuses on
the study of structure, function, growth, evolution and other features of living organisms. That
being said, a biology student should have the knowledge and expertise on how manipulation of
a compound microscope is done and what better way to start getting to know the apparatus
than familiarizing its basic parts and functions.

Materials:
Long Bond paper
Ruler
Pencil

Procedures:
1. Draw and label a microscope in a long bond paper.
2. Only one drawing material should be used (graphite pencil, charcoal, or pen).
3. All the labels must be written on the right side of your drawing.
4. Write the functions of each parts legibly.

Criteria for (Biological) Drawings:


Only one drawing material used (graphite, pencil charcoal, pen) _____ 5 pts
Leave a minimum of 1 cm margin ______________________________5 pts
Name and section should be written legibly ______________________5 pts
Ruler used for horizontal labelling ______________________________5 pts
Labels are printed/ written to the right __________________________5 pts
Accuracy and proportion of the parts drawn ______________________10 pts
Overall neatness of the drawing ________________________________5 pts
Correctness of the functionality mentioned _______________________5 pts
