UNDERSTAND
Topic: Irregular Plural Nouns
Good day kid! In our previous lesson, we learned how to form the plural of regular
nouns. This time, we will explore how to pluralize irregular nouns. Are you ready? Let
start!

Noun is a name of a person, place, thing, animal, or event which can be Singular
(referring to only one noun) or Plural (referring to two or more nouns.)
In forming the plural form of nouns, we need to know which one is a regular or
irregular noun. Regular noun forms its plural by adding –s or –es while Irregular
Noun forms its plural by changing its word.
Irregular Plural Noun are nouns that did not follow a “standard” rule and did
not become plural by adding –s or –es. We change the word of irregular nouns to make
it plural.
Examples:
A. Irregular Nouns in Singular and Plural form.

Singular Plural Singular Plural

man men tooth teeth
woman women mouse mice
child children leaf leaves
person people larva larvae
wife wives foot feet
Nouns that ends in –f and –fe
 The plural form of a word that ends in –f, simply change f to v and add –es.
 And if the word ends in –fe, to make it plural change the f to v and add –s.

Examples:

man men
Nouns that have the same singular and plural forms
 Some words do not change at all, they have the same singular and plural form.
