Topic: Irregular Plural Nouns
Good day kid! In our previous lesson, we learned how to form the plural of regular
nouns. This time, we will explore how to pluralize irregular nouns. Are you ready? Let
start!
Noun is a name of a person, place, thing, animal, or event which can be Singular
(referring to only one noun) or Plural (referring to two or more nouns.)
In forming the plural form of nouns, we need to know which one is a regular or
irregular noun. Regular noun forms its plural by adding –s or –es while Irregular
Noun forms its plural by changing its word.
Irregular Plural Noun are nouns that did not follow a “standard” rule and did
not become plural by adding –s or –es. We change the word of irregular nouns to make
it plural.
Examples:
A. Irregular Nouns in Singular and Plural form.

calf calves
leaf leaves
life lives
wife wives
knife knives
Singular Plural
goose geese
tooth teeth
foot feet
woman women
man men
Nouns that have the same singular and plural forms
Some words do not change at all, they have the same singular and plural form.
Examples:
Singular Plural
aircraft aircraft
swine swine
fish fish
deer deer
sheep sheep
Cute little Jade likes to play with other children in the village. Women
from their village like to pinch his rosy cheeks. Jade and his playmates will play
all day long.
One morning when Jade hides on a bunch of dried guava leaves, he saw
two little mice busy eating guavas. When the mice notice him it immediately run
away from him. After what he saw, he then again plays with his playmates. They
play and play until Jade’s mother calls him for lunch. He went home with his feet
full of dust.
