Group Project Guidelines

Instructions to students:

All students in each group must involve in this group project. The group leader must ensure that
every student participate in ways that each group has decided collectively. Any student who does
not participate as a group member in doing this group project may not receive his or her marks (but
the group leader and members must first verify this matter).
Every group is allowed and encouraged to work with other groups for the project provided that
there is no plagiarism in the project reports. The group project report must be typed (not
handwritten) and bounded. The name of the group, members and group leader must be clearly
listed on the report cover and signed by every student.
The group Project Report 1 is due on 25 March 2021 (before 4.00 pm) AND Project Report 2 is due
on 05 May 2021 (before 4.00 pm). Late group project report submission may not be accepted /
marks will be deducted.
Total marks = Project Report 1 (33) + Project Report 2 (50) + Ethics (17)
= 100 marks

Project Report 1 [33 marks]


As a consultant, you are required to produce a Project Report 1 which to present your organization
in the company profile and its business plan.
You are given freedom to produce the report according to your own format and creativity. Any
references that you have referred, need to be cited and listed in the report. You also need to follow
the cover page template for this report.
It is important that group members participate as effective and efficient team players in sharing the
work together to successfully complete the project. At any time, change of group leadership is
acceptable if there is any need to do so.

Project Report 2 [50 marks]


A project, which consist of one-unit reinforced concrete 2-storeys bungalow house building will be
constructed in Semenyih, Selangor. Your group, which act as a project management consultant is
required to develop a Project Management planning report. The report must covers the Project
Scope Management, Project Time Management, and Project Cost Management.
The client also requires you to ensure that your project planning must take into consideration their
limitations as follows:
1. Client’s maximum budget is RM 1,110,000 (overall project).
2. Maximum project period is 24 months.
3. The minimum size of the house is 139.35 square meter (m2).
4. Must include project crashing in Planning & Scheduling report to provide alternatives to
client to choose which is the best solution in terms of shorter project period and cost-saving
to the client. * Learn this technique by your own.

While, for the Group Project requirements for this course are as follows:
1. You are required to develop the project cost-planning base on estimation budget given by
the client from dealing with District Office until complete of the house.
2. You can develop the costing by using the most widely used cost estimating techniques
known as Bottom-up estimating OR also called analytical estimating.
3. The design of the bungalow house must have its own aesthetic value for your client and the
cost must be as optimum as possible to meet the client’s requirement and satisfaction.
4. You must include in your report, your justification on the reason you choose the method(s)
and tool(s) to develop your project planning report. For example: CPM Arrow Network
Diagram, Microsoft Project Software, etc.
5. You must use an appropriate report format and the contents of your report must include all
the important and necessary information for the client.

Ethics [17 marks]


It will be based on your professionalism towards your client (course lecturer) and your ethics in
terms of following the code of conduct (e.g: in quality of your group project works, no plagiarism
issues, etc.).
For plagiarism issue, you will be required to submit the softcopy of your project reports in Turnitin
(class will be created by your course lecturer in the Turnitin for you to submit it).
