Chapter I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Introduction
Introduction
In The level of satisfaction of students in Tuguegarao Campus Using LMS (Moodle) as
medium of instruction on distance learning, the dependent variable is the Student’s Level
of satisfaction in ISAP Tuguegarao Campus while the independent variable is the Using
LMS (Moodle) as medium of instruction on distance learning.

Satisfication of students in their studies are very important .This serves as their
perceptiom and opinion on what type of education are more comfortable .
As online learning is growing, institutions and
instructors have become more interested in knowing
what factors influence students’ learning and
satisfaction in online learning environments. This
becomes more important for them when the results
of studies show high dropout rates and lower
retention in online courses than in face-to-face
traditional courses .Meanwhile The LMS Moodle is a learning process of education in
electronic form through
Internet network or the Intranet with the use of management
system for education. Broadly there are two approaches
generally seen in e-Learning. Asynchronous e-learning
commonly facilitated by media such as e-mail and discussion
boards supports work relations among learners and with tutors, teachers and most
especially the student .
The Covid pandemic has created changes in the instructing learning measure in higher
instruction foundations and has impacted the cooperation among educators and students.
As a consequence of the pandemic, schools were obliged to carrying out their activity
with students exclusively online, that’s why they needed to use an effective platform for
us students that can help us to pursue our education. Previous studies show that LMS
MOODLE offers many benefits for students because this type of learning involves
student-centeredness, it is more flexible, and it can also improve interaction with students
by providing asynchronous and synchronous tools such as e-mail, forums, chats,
videoconferences. Students also had to face challenges and a study focusing on students’
perspective on LMS identified that among the main challenges that students encountered
were accessibility, connectivity, lack of appropriate devices, social issues represented by
the lack of communication and interaction with teachers and peers. And this focuses on
the independent variable which is the Student’s Level of Perception towards ISAP
Tuguegarao Campus.
On the other hand, the dependent variable is the Using LMS (Moodle) as medium of
instruction on distance learning. LMS or the Learning Management Systems, these are
web-based platforms designed for management, documentation, monitoring, reporting,

and delivery of courses in both higher education and other educational systems. They can
assist in traditional classrooms, distance learning, or any combination of the two.
This study purpose is to identify ad rate the level of
satisfaction of students in Isap Tuguegarao Campus using The
Lms Moodle .This study helps to address issue abot the
preferences of students in using LMS .This reseatch paper
helps people most especially the students .Because there are
issues like this that need to solve .

Definition of Terms

The following terms are operationally defined in order to ensure a better and

common understanding between the researcher and the readers particularly on some

significant terms and concepts used in the study.

LMS -A learning management system (LMS) is a software application or web-

based technology used to plan, implement and assess a specific learning process. It is

used for e-Learning practices and, in its most common form, consists of two elements: a

server that performs the base functionality and a user interface that is operated by

instructors, students and administrators.

Moodle -is a Learning Platform or course management system (CMS) - a free

Open Source software package designed to help educators .

Distance Learning - Modular Distance Learning, is also known as some

correspondence education or home study, Also features individual instruction that allows

learners to use self-learning modules (SLMS) in print or digital format/electronic copy,

whichever is applicable to the learner. Usually, teachers will have to deliver appropriate

learning materials.

Chapter II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

This chapter deals with the review of related literature and

studies after that thorough going and in depth research
accomplished by t6he researcher .This will further manifest
the synthesis to completely understand the study to be done.

Related Literature
According to Miller (1996)The growth of internet has an impact on the
development of education, where education is now required to be flexible [1].
Flexible in learning methods that can be done anywhere and anytime without any
geographical restrictions has becomes a highly demand to fulfill the educational
needs of professionals, entrepreneurs and even housewives who want to
continue their education to a higher level. Media technology that connect the
learning process of classroom e-learning is learning management system (LMS)
[2]. LMS is an application that manages online learning systems, distributes
learning materials, and enables interaction between lectures and students [3]
LMS supports teaching and learning activities, helps to organize e-learning
content on storage systems, provides unlimited access to e-learning materials so
that the tracking students’ progress becomes easier. LMS is not a new thing
nowadays, universities that run e-learning mostly adopt this system. There is one
private university that runs e-learning in Jakarta, Indonesia. This private
university is an information technology based educational institution that has
experience in conducting education using Information and Communications
Technology (ICT) for the students. One of ICT-based learning system is the
online 180 https://www.i-jet.org Short Paper— Measuring Students Satisfaction
in Using Learning Management System learning system where teaching and
learning process is done through web-based learning. Students will be satisfied
with the process of learning by using the media on the website because the
interaction via website is fun, encouraging the learning process and success
compared with conventional lectures [4]. Based on the prior reserachers, there
are several factors that influence student's satisfaction toward LMS. According to
Ramayah and Lee (2012) that the satisfaction of students toward LMS is
influenced by the quality of the information, system and services provided by
educational institutions. The quality of communication in the LMS needs to be
concerned, as the learning process runs via online without meeting each other.
The quality of good communication through media affects student satisfaction
[5]. Another factor of satisfaction, according to Islam (2015) is where the LMS is

easy to learn and can help the learning performance. The purpose of this study
to determine what factors that affect student satisfaction on learning
management system at a private university that organizes online learning
system.

n the e-learning context, several studies found that the utilization of learning
technologies in higher education might be influenced by several factors related to
students, instructors, technology capabilities, course delivery, classmates,
institutional support, and information technology infrastructure [28], [46]–[47][48].
The majority of empirical studies have pointed out that student characteristics
are crucial for the success of e-learning initiatives [20], [49]–[50][51]. Liaw et al.
[51] addressed the impact of instructors’ characteristics and system
characteristics on learners’ experience in terms of the perceived usefulness of a
learning system. They found that effective implementation and adoption of
technology depends on instructors’ positive attitude towards the technology. Lee
[52] examined the effect of training and support in intra-organizational factors
and extra-organizational factors (individual’s access to hardware and software
resources from inside or outside the organization) on the perceived ease of use
and perceived usefulness of e-learning. Their result confirmed the original
findings of TAM model that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are
positively associated with the individual’s behavioral expectation. They also
stated that perceived resources, intra-organizational and extra-organizational
may positively influence individuals’ e-learning adoption.

Moreover, issues related to certain technological and organizational

determinants were also reported to impose some influence on the acceptance
and satisfaction of LMS. This is supported by other studies which have
demonstrated how certain organizational factors, such as training [53] and
technical support [54], can be related to the adoption of technology in higher
education. In a theoretical study, Wan et al. [55] proposed that students and
instructors, system quality, and course design may play a key role in shaping the
learning process, and, consequently, learning outcomes. This motivated Selim
[29] to examine factors related to learner, instructor, technology, and university
support to predict LMS acceptance. Selim [29] found that instructor
characteristics could significantly contribute to the e-learning success, followed
by technological infrastructure and university support.

In principle, the review of the literature revealed that various studies examined
the relationship between certain LMS critical success factors and the acceptance
of students in different distance learning situations. Despite these observations,
little is still known about how these factors may contribute to the students’
learning experience for enhanced satisfaction. Hence, certain characteristics of
students, instructors, system, classmates, course design, and organization were
identified from the literature as the main indicators of LMS success.

METHODOLOGY AND PROCEDURE

Research Methodology

In this study, the researchers will use correlational research design.

Correlational research designs measure a relationship between two variables

without the researchers controlling either of them. It aims to find out whether

there is either: Positive correlation, Negative correlation and Zero correlation. In

this study, It aims to determine if the level of satisfaction of Senior High School

students in using LMS MOODLE as a medium of instruction in the new normal

education and to determine which is/are in the 2 variables, namely: LMS

MOODLE , face to face learning the most and most effectively in the learning of

the students.

In addition, correlational research is a type of non-experimental research

method in which to understand and assess the statistical relationship between

them with no influence from any extraneous variable.

Respondents of the Study

The respondents of the study will be the Grade 11 and 12 Senior High

School students of International School of Asia and the Pacific under the Science,

Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) strand, Humanities and Social

Sciences (HUMSS) strand, Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) strand

and Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) strand.

Locale of the Study

This study will be conducted at International School of Asia and the

Pacific, Atulayan Sur, Tuguegarao City for the school year 2020-2021.

Research Instrument

To come up with the most reliable findings, the researchers utilized a

survey questionnaire which purposely distributed to Grade 12 Senior high school

students of International School of Asia and the Pacific, Tuguegarao City

Campus. The instrument used was a list of questionnaires made by the

researchers based on the related literature and studies relevant to the study. The

instrument is required a good foundation coming from reliable sources. The

questionnaires were validated by the research adviser. The formulated survey

questionnaires were based on the statement of the problem set by the

researchers. The preferred instrument was chosen for the reason that 1) It does

not require any costing, 2) it requires less work for the researchers, 3) It helps

respondents answer a lot easier. The first part of the questionnaire is about the

demographic profile of the respondents which ask for the sex, strand and their

learning modality. The next part is the questionnaire proper which consist of

tabular presentation of survey statements about the teaching strategies in the

new norm in education. The rating scale or likert-scale used in the questionnaire

composed of 4-Excellent; 3-Good; 2-Average; and 1-Poor. In this way, the

researchers will be able to determine the students perception using LMS in the

New Norm in Education.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers allotted a lot of time to recognize what are the

problems in this study. After collecting and evaluating related literature and

studies, the researchers determined the variables that are needed on this current

problem, the researchers also decided how to collect the data, the researchers

are also aware of all the possible difficulties throughout the data collection

process. However, with the pandemic, it is common to distribute those using

digital media such as social networks and email. An online survey could be a set

of structured questions that the respondent completes over the web, generally

through filling out a form through Google Forms. It is a more natural way to

reach out to the respondents as it is less time consuming than the traditional

way of gathering information through one-to-one interaction and less expensive.

Sampling Design

The researchers will utilize stratified random sampling. As defined by

Hayes (2020) Stratified sampling may be a style of sampling involving a

population division into smaller-subgroups remarked as strata. In stratified

sampling, the strata are formed supported by members’ shared attributes or

characteristics like income or educational attainment. This sampling is a method

of sampling, which is when a researcher selects a small group as a sample size

for the study. This subset represents the larger population (Nickolas, 2020).

The researcher will utilize the stratified random method because the

selection of the respondents is divided into different strata followed by age,

gender and strand kinds of criteria. It is organized based on the shared

characteristics or attributes of the members in the group. The researcher

chooses to efficiently target a sample and their prime concern is proportionality.

Data processing and Statistical Treatment

The researchers used the survey and questionnaire in
gathering data from respondents .Copies and questionnaire
stated in English ,are used to observe the students of ISAP
