Problem No. 10 - Find the value of y in the given: y = (1 +cos 2θ) tan θ

This document summarizes the steps to solve the equation y = (1 +cos 2θ) tan θ for the value of y. It expresses cos 2θ in terms of sin θ, substitutes this into the original equation, and simplifies to determine that y = sin 2θ.

Problem No. 10 – Find the value of y in the given: y = (1 +cos 2θ) tan θ.

Given: y = (1 +cos 2θ) tan θ

Solution: y = (1 +cos 2θ) tan θ (eqn. 1)

cos 2θ = cos 2 θ−sin2 θ
cos 2θ = ( 1−sin2 θ )−sin2 θ
cos 2θ = 1 - 2sin2 θ (eqn. 2)

Substitute eqn. 2 to eqn. 1: y = (1 +1 - 2sin2 θ) tan θ

y = (2 – 2 sin2 θ) tan θ
y = 2 (1 - sin2 θ) tan θ
sin θ
y = 2 ¿) ( cos θ )
y = 2 cos θ sin θ
y = sin 2θ

Final Answer: y = sin 2θ
