I. Introduction

One of the course requirements for graduation is Work Immersion. A senior high school

student must participate in a work immersion program in an industry that is directly related to

their post-secondary goals. Work immersion exposes students to and familiarizes them with

work-relevant environments linked to their field of socialization to improve their competency.

The student must be able to do the following: gain relevant and practical industrial skills under

the guidance of industry expert and workers; appreciate the importance and application of the

principle and theories taught in school; enhance their technical knowledge and skills; enrich their

skills in communication and human relation; and develop good work habits, attitude,

appreciation, and respect for work.

II. Acknowledgement

I would like to thank our Teachers and my Family that they were with me until the very

end. Malene Salvador who fixed my grammars and helped me to do my worksheets. Shyn

Bagaporo who prints my works. Erika Joy Eslabon who lent me her cellphone for making a

video. Thank you everyone. I will reach my dream for the better future.

III. Biographic Data

My name is Jericho E. Bienvenida, 19 years old and since birth we started to live in Salcedo

1 Noveleta, Cavite. I’m the youngest brother of 4 siblings, my siblings names are Erika Joy

Eslabon, John Henrick Bienvenida, Honey Grace Bienvenida, and me. Our mothers name is

Yvette Bienvenida, and my father’s name is Manrique Bienvenida. My father worked in One

Serenata Hotel as a Plummer, he worked for our needs every day. Our mother is a housewife.

Since I was Elementary, I was bullied on my classroom, everyone saw me looks tiny, ugly,

and looks like a monkey. I'm so depressed that time, but I didn't show my weakness to everyone.

Since Grade 3-6, every afternoon, my classmates played Chinese garter, and we enjoyed the

games. I graduated and I didn't receive any degrees.

When I was Junior High, I joined intrams and I played Volleyball on Grade 7-8, I will be

the Libero because I'm fast to get a ball. On Grade 9, I received top 7 in my classroom, my father

and mother so very thankful that time. Grade 10 is the best memorable, this is the last meeting of

the students, because the friends will be separated. I'm so sad, because my classmate on grade 8-

10 she was with me until the end of class. I graduated as completer

Senior High, this is the last time we meet again. I'm so excited to graduate and I wish I will

get an honor student, If not it’s okay. Everyone will get a diploma.

IV. Culminating Activities

Week 1. "Orientation"

The first meeting, she discussed about the orientation. It is a part of Senior High Curriculum

that aims to train the students about a work and their past future come. It is a type of skill

development where a worker learns how to do work through hand-on experience. On the work

immersion training is one method by which students are exposed with different work situation

design to give students opportunity experience and a chance to apply the theories and

compulation that they learn from the school. It also helps student to acquire relevant knowledge

and skill that performing in actual work setting.

Work immersion is very important to Senior High Students, not only to teach students

regarding there choose courses, but also to show students the reality of working. The students

will be exposed to the actual work related to their tracks and strands that they are taking of

students. It also allows those with no experience to learn and to work at the same time. Work

immersion helps the student to learn more about his chosen field and practice what he has

learned from the school. It helps in the building up of the trainee's competence. This training

develops one' s professionalism in dealing with people. After the training, the trainer will be able

to handle situation properly and will be able to know to socialize well with his schoolmates. He

will be able to work well with everyone and he will have a good teamwork.

Week 2. "Work Ethics and Safety in the Workplace"
In the second week of our immersion, April 21, 2021. She discussed Ethics. Ethics is a

moral principle that govern a person's behavior or conducting of an activity, it is helping us make

decision that create positive impact and steering us away from unjust outcomes. Ethics guide us

for the world a better place through the choices we make. A strong work ethic is an important

part of being successful in your career. Work ethic is a set of value based on the ideas of

discipline and hard work. Being valued and treated respectfully helps to promote a positive work

culture in which employees are fulfilled, engaged, and motivated to perform at their very best. I

learned that the key of being employee is to work hard. Being honest is more than just not taking

things, and teamwork is the best communication and fasting works. I work hard for the better

salary.

Safety in the workplace is the condition of being protected from harm or other non-desirable

outcomes. Safety is also referred to the control of recognize hazards to achieve an acceptable

level of risk. She discussed how to be good employee, learn how to use the traffic lights. Traffic

lights are useful in our place, it used to control the movement of traffics. They are placed at road

intersection and crossing. The red light, it means stop. The yellow light, it means slow down.

The green light, it means you can go. Always follow the instructions and know the fire exits.

Week 3. "Workplace Rights & Responsibilities and Confidentiality in the Workplace"

On May 4, 2021, she discussed all about Workplace Rights, Responsibilities and

Confidentially in the Workplace. Conflict is a type of misunderstanding of people. It is a natural

disagreement resulting of individual or groups that differ in attitude, beliefs, values, and needs.

You can control yourself, just speaks calmly to understand each other. Just asking questions one-

by-one what are misunderstanding of then.

Another topic she discussed is about Privacy and Confidentially in the Workplace. She

tackled how to keep secret information’s (personality, families, and knowing information inside

the company). The information should be protected an Employee Information, Management

Information, and Business Information. Secret Media Policy, it means this is not uploading

videos that they do inside the company any social medias. Like an EPZA, have a protocol inside

the companies, gadgets not allowed using inside the company, every lunch break or when you go

outside the company, you can use your cellphone.

I have learned a lot; I know how to keep secret inside and outside of the company. If what

you know the information that only two you will know, just kept it the secrets to the other

employees inside the company.

Week 4-5. "Appreciating the Importance of Credentials"

On May 11, 2021, she discussed about Appreciating the Importance of Credential. She

tackled what are the important requirements of applicant during job interview. Resume is

important things to get a job. An Applicant of Employment is part of Biodata that will fill-up the

forms. Educational Background of an applicant is very important to knowing of an employer that

you are graduated of your school. First process to get a job, you will attend the orientation, wait

the call of employer that that you are pass the examination. Second, you will proceed the

Medical Interview, wait another call again that you are pass the interview. The last process is

training.

I have learned a lot; I know what the processes are before proceeding in a job. I know what

the experience for the interview are. This immersion helps the students graduating to understand

how to get a job.

Week 6. "Job Interview"

The last work immersion she discussed is all about Job Interview. We have to practice to

answer the questionnaires when we apply in the companies. Formal attire is the best outfit when

applying in the company, because they observe of employer about your cleanliness and personal

appearance. I practiced/video myself on how to apply a job, I got so nervous that time, but I

reached it and I have guide to entertained myself to becoming an employer.

Week 7. “Culminating Activity”

On June 30, 2021, she gave a format of a portfolio. A culminating event is when students

present the product or outcome of their study, receive comments, and celebrate their

accomplishments at a concluding event. Students are actively involved in the planning of the

culmination.

I presented my Online Selling to my classmates; it is all about my Hearty Patty. My

adviser gives some missing about my online selling, but she is appreciating my video.

V. Insights

Insight can be a powerful learning tool for very students like me. My observation is based

on what I saw and heard. I observed them on their modes of behavior, strategies activities,

values, and process steps. These are my observed:

 You need to focus to your goal and have proper time management.

 How to get a job.

 How to be a good employee inside the company.

 Work immersion is good for the students upcoming to graduation.

VI. Reflection

The Work Immersion is a part of Senior High School program of DepEd, which the students

need to have 80 hours of hand-on experience or work simulation and will undergo to expose

them to the actual workplace setting and to enrich the competencies provided by the school

under the supervision of the School Head. I could say that it was really such a great adventure, it

really was a great experience for me, and I would a treasure it for my whole life. This was the

first time that I have felt being like an employee. I have never imagined such a thrilling event in

my life.

VII. Recommendation

Senior high school students, who will be having their work immersion, to carefully

choose the establishment where they wish to have their practicum to avoid regrets. They must

think wisely where they think they can really experience and execute the work related to what

they will pursue in college.

Work Immersion Advisers, to make sure that they provide all the details essential for

the work immersion.

Parents, to let their children to independently fix their own permits needed for the work

immersion.
