The modular construction concept applied to the Hydro EN range makes transport, handling and positioning at the place
of installation easier; all pumping sets are supplied in macro blocks, usually split as:
• a baseplate for duty pump, jockey pump, relevant control panels with brackets, hydraulic components,
• in the case of pumping sets with two duty pumps, the second macro block includes a second baseplate for the second
stand-by pump, control panel with brackets, hydraulic components.
The arrangement of the parts provides immediate reading of the measurement instruments and signals, making the opera-
tions necessary during the commissioning and the periodic checks of the pumping unit easier.

The following components are on the discharge side of
the each duty or stand-by pump:
• 1x concentric divergent pipe with controlled taper with
connection for the priming tank to the discharge side
of the pumps (10.6.2.4, view 15) and connection for
the recirculation circuit in order to prevent overheat-
ing of the pump when operated against closed valves
(10.5);
• 1x compensation joint placed on the larger side of the
divergent pipe;
• 1x check valve;
• 1x Isolating valve, butterfly type, with lockable handle
and status indicator (15.2). Operation is by hand-
wheel with gearbox for sizes higher than DN 100 (UNI
11443);
• 1x ½” drain valve on the discharge side of the pump
according to the diagram of the standard (Figure 6,
ref.1);
• 1x starting device complete with two starting pressure
switches, glycerine bath manometer with 16 bar full
scale, isolating valve, bypass with check and drain
valve. The operation mode requires two pressure
switches for each pump that are connected so that
each one can provide automatic start (10.7.5.1), while
stopping is manual (10.7.5.2);
• 1x 1” connection for the sprinkler circuit of the pumps
installation room (10.3.2.);
• 1x pressure switch on the discharge side to detect
that the pump is delivering pressure (10.8.6.1);
• 1x flanged discharge manifold for the connection to
the system and the testing kit.
The jockey pump is equipped with the following compo-
nents:
• connection for priming;
• 1” check valve on the discharge side;
• 2x Isolating valves, ball type with lever operation,one
on discharge (1”) and one on suction (1¼") ;
• 1x pressure switch for starting and stopping the
pump;
• 1x diaphragm tank pre-charged at the factory for the
optimal jockey pump operation.
Accessories (see dedicated paragraph) can be provided
to complete the supply, including:
• One suction kit for positive or suction head installa-
tion including eccentric divergent pipe with controlled
taper, vacuum pressure gauge, Isolating valve, com-
pensation joint on the pipe connection side, all sized
according to the requirements stated in the EN 12845

Drainage pump
A system with two properly sized pumps is required
for installations carried out in compliance with the UNI
11292 standard.
Grundfos can supply the drainage pumps indicated for
the purpose and suitable for being combined with the SE
2000 emergency power supply unit described above.
Manual pump for diesel tank filling
A manual pump for diesel tank filling is supplied loose
upon request. This accessory ease the re-filling of the
diesel tank as far as it makes it possible to build a fixed
filling system, conveyed to the outside of the room for
installations carried out in compliance with the UNI
11292 standard.

Cooling flow
As specified in the EN 12845 (10.5) standard, a device
to meet the following functional purposes must be
installed on the pumping set:
• to prevent overheating when the pump operates
against close valves conditions (called recirculation);
• to supply the water/water heat exchanger for diesel
engine cooling (if present on the engine).
The minimum flow rate values necessary to meet the
purposes listed above are stated in the specific table in
the performance curves and technical data paragraph.

13
The complete performance curves and the technical data for each pump are shown in the specific charts, while the single
duty pump performance is indicated below in table format for easy selection.
The values shown can be used entirely, and the last point is not the end of the curve.
• The part having NPSHr values less than or equal to 5 m is highlighted with a grey background.
• The section without grey background indicates pump performance at an NPSHr value of 7 m that is the maximum limit
suggested.
In any case, check that the standard (10.6.2.2) condition is met when choosing the pump for the actual state of
installation: NPSHd ≥ NPSHr +1 [m].
A portion of the flow rate delivered by the pump is used as a cooling flow (specific data shown on the pump performance
curves) and therefore it must be added to the design flow rate, as specified by the EN12845 (10.5) standard.

The bold part of the curve indicates the performances ( Q - H ) with NPSHr ≤ 5.
The system suction conditions (i.e.: friction loss, minimun water level, etc.) must allow to respect the following
norm prescription EN 12845 (10.6.2.1): NPSH D ≥ NPSH R + 1 [m].
Please contact Grundfos, for performance exceeding the max. suggested limit shown in the chart.
