General Instructions:
1. This question paper contains two parts A and B.
2. Both Part A and Part B have internal choices.
Part - A:
1. It contains two sections - I and II.
2. Section I has 16 questions of 1 mark each. Internal choice is provided in 5 questions.
3. Section II has 4 questions on case study. Each case study has 5 case-based sub-parts. An
examinee is to attempt any 4 out of 5 sub-parts.
Part - B
1. It contains three sections – III, IV and V.
2. Section III : Question No. 21 to 26 are Very short answer Type questions of 2 marks
each.
3. Section IV : Question No. 27 to 33 are Short Answer Type questions of 3 marks each.
4. Section V : Question No. 34 to 36 are Long Answer Type questions of 5 marks each.
5. Internal choice is provided in 2 questions of 2 marks, 2 questions of 3 marks and 1
question of 5 marks.

PART – A
Section – I

Section I has 16 questions of 1 mark each. Internal choice is provided in 5 questions.

1. If the quadratic equation x 2 − 2x + k = 0 has equal roots, then find the value of k.

2. Evaluate : sec 60° cosec 30° − cot 30° tan 60°.

OR

Evaluate : sin 60° cos 45° + cos 60° sin 45°.

3. If P(E) = 0.05, what is the probability of ‘not E’ ?

4. An unbiased die is thrown. What is the probability of getting an even number or a


multiple of 3?
OR
Two coins are tossed simultaneously. What is the probability of getting same outcomes
on both the coins?

5. Express 5005 as the product of its prime factors.

6. Check the consistency of the pair of equations 6x − 3y + 10 = 0 and 2x − y + 9 = 0.

7. Find the sum and the product of the zeros of the polynomial 2x 2 − 8x + 6.

OR

Find a quadratic polynomial whose zeroes are 8 and −5.

8. Find the solution of the equation ax + by = c and the equation which represents y axis.
Here a, b and c are non-zero constants.

9. In ∆ABC, AB = 6√3 cm , AC = 12 cm and BC = 6 cm, then find ∠B.

10. Find the class marks of classes (10 − 25) and (35 − 55).

OR

If the mean of first n natural numbers is 15 then find the value of n.

11. In a circle of radius 21 cm, an arc subtends an angle of 60° at the centre. Find length of
the arc.
OR

A cow is tied to a peg at one corner of a square shaped field by means of 5 metres long
rope. Find the area of the part of the field in which the cow can graze.

12. In ∆ABC, D and E are points on sides AB and AC respectively such that DE || BC and
AD ∶ BD = 3 ∶ 1. If AE = 6.6 cm then find AC.

13. If sin A = then calculate tan A.

14. From a point Q, the length of the tangent to a circle is 24 cm and the distance of Q from
the centre is 25 cm. Find the radius of the circle.

15. Find the distance between the points (−5, 7) and (−1, 3).

16. Which term of the AP : 21 , 18 , 15 , … … … is −81.


Section – II

There are four Case study-based questions which are compulsory. Each Case Study based
question has five sub parts out of which any four sub-parts are to be attempted. Each sub
part carries 1 mark.

Traffic lights (or traffic signals) are lights used to control movement of traffics. They

21. If the distances of the point P(x, y) from the points A(3, 6) and B(−3, 4) are equal,
prove that 3x + y = 5 .

If the points A(6, 1) , B(8, 2), C(9, 4) and D(p, 3) are the vertices of a parallelogram,
taken in order, find the value of p .

26. A solid metallic cuboid having dimensions 9 cm × 8 cm × 6 cm, is melted and recast
into two solid cubes of equal volume. Find the volume and total surface area of each
cube, newly formed.

Section – IV

All questions are compulsory. In case of internal choices, attempt any one. Each of the
following questions (Q. No. 27 – Q. No. 33) carries 3 marks.

27. In the given figure, two tangents TP and TQ are drawn to a circle with centre O from an
external point T. If ∠PTQ = 50° then find ∠OPQ.

28. If the roots of the equation (a − b)x 2 + (b − c)x + (c − a) = 0 are equal, prove that
2a = b + c.
OR

The sum of the squares of two consecutive odd natural numbers is 394. Find the
numbers.

29. Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.
30. Prove that : sec A(1 − sin A)(sec A + tan A) = 1, where (0° < 𝐴 < 90°).

31. Solve the pair of linear equations : + 3y = 14 and − 4y = 23.

A boat goes 8 km downstream in 40 mins and returns upstream in 1 hour. Determine the
speed of the boat in still water and the speed of the current.

32. Draw a circle of radius 3.5 cm. From a point, 8 cm away from its centre, construct a pair
of tangents to the circle.

33. One card is drawn from a well-shuffled deck of 52 cards. Find the probability of getting
(i) a king of red colour
(ii) the jack of hearts
(iii) a face card

Section – V

All questions are compulsory. In case of internal choices, attempt any one. Each of the
following questions (Q. No. 34 – Q. No. 36) carries 5 marks.

34. The following frequency distribution gives monthly consumption of electricity of an


area. Find the median of the data. Also find the mode of the data.

35. The shadow of a vertical tower on level ground increases by 10 ft, when the altitude of
the sun changes from 45° to 30°.
(i) Find the height of the tower.
(ii) Find the length of the shadow of the tower when the altitude of the sun is 30°.
[use √3 = 1.732]
OR
From a point P on the ground, the angles of elevation of the bottom and the top of a
transmission tower fixed at the top of a 20 m high building are 45° and 60° respectively.
(i) Find the height of the tower.
(ii) Find the distance of the point P from the foot of the tower.
[use √3 = 1.732]

36. A tent is in the shape of a cylinder surmounted by a conical top. The height and
diameter of the cylindrical part are 2.1 m and 4 m respectively, and the slant height of
the conical part is 2.8 m.
(i) Find the area of the canvas used for making the tent.
(ii) Find the cost of the canvas of the tent at the rate of Rs 500 per sqm.
