This document contains an activity with 4 questions about computing statistical measures such as mean, median, quartiles, variance, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation from data sets including raw scores and frequency distributions. It asks the student to calculate these measures for several data sets and compare the coefficient of variation between grade levels.

Activity 4

1. Given the following scores, compute for the Q1, Q3, D3, P65, variance, standard
deviation and coefficient of variation. (You can use any method for the variance and SD).
Note: Round off the mean to the nearest whole number before computing for standard
deviation.

78 76 78 90 87 67

87 78 98 67 87 67

87 80 60 87 57 76

87 89 90 87 67 76

87 80 89 75 64 78

2. Using the frequency distribution below, compute for the Q1, Q3, D3, P65, variance,
standard deviation and coefficient of variation. (You can use any method for the variance
and SD).

3. Three Grade 10 sections of Matalino National High School were given a test in Math
and the information about the mean scores and standard deviation are shown in the table.
Compute for the coefficients of variability and compare the variability of the test scores
of the three Grade 10 sections. Complete the table below.

10-Aquino 68.70 10.75

10-Bonifacio 70.25 8.16

4. Compute for the standard deviation of both Section A and Section B. Compare results,
discuss differences if any.
