LESSON PLAN FOR STARTERS

Duration: 90 minutes.
Numbers: Maximum 15 students/ class
Age: 8-9 year’s old
Class: Starter 3H
Teacher: Yen Padilla
Date: 03/07/2019
Target:
- Engage students in the lesson through games/ songs. They will enjoy the lesson
and be more confident.
- Students can say, read new words with structures and practice
- Drill English following order: listening – speaking – reading – writing.

Time Activity Details
10 mins Warm-up, Greetings Aims: Break the ice and lead to new lesson.
and review - T can teach them a dance, or play a dancing song so
they can follow. Teacher can do high-five and thumbs
up to be more friendly.
- Greet the ss.
-T will review the ss about the feelings they have
learned.

30 mins Introduce new words Aims: Give Ss input - Introduce the topic and make

- T shows a short story for ss to read and understand.
-Ss will read the short story thus the class have.
After reading each of the ss will identify what does it
means on the story they read.
- T will ask question on how to be a kind child.
T will show a short storz about The Lion and the
mouse.
10mins Practice - Teacher will give a situation for children and ask
them what are they going to do.
- T will show some pictures and ask ss if they are
going to be helpful and kind like what did the girl do
in a short story they have read.
25 mins Game Game 1: Spelling Bee
Target: Have students listen and distinguish new
words.
- Ss will be in 2 or 3 teams. T will show pictures to
the board. One member from 2 or 3 teams will
compete each other.
- When T flash a picture, 3 kids need to write the
correct spelling of feeling words. If the student gets it
right, their team has 5 star.

Game 2: Puzzle time


Target: Have students think on how to solve puzzle.
- T introduce the game. T will give the ss the puzzle
that they are going to do.

15mins Workbook Aims: Ss practice their reading and writing skills.


- T guides Ss to finish their workbook exercises on
pages 8-9.
- T checks if Ss remember new words and structures
or not one by one and gives them stamps.
5 mins Review Aims: Summarize the main knowledge.
- Have them to say the word + structure together
before they leave.
- They can listen to one more song before leaving.

word together 3 times. After each word, T will point
to the pictures given on the whiteboard.
- T writes the new words on the board and ask Ss to
read aloud.

After introducing four new words, T can hide these

- After introducing 4 new words, T has Ss repeat the
structure Where’s he/she from? (He’s/She’s
from____).
- T will ask the second question Is he/she from
_____? The ss will answer Yes, he/she is.
No, he/she isn’t.

15mins Practice - Teacher asks Ss to look at the picture given. T will


ask the ss to do in pair. One ss will ask the other using
the sentence structure learned “Where’s he/she from?
Is he/she from ______?”

20 mins Game Game 1: Spelling Bee


Target: Have students listen and distinguish new
words.
- Ss will be in 3 teams. T will show pictures to the
board. One member from 3 teams will compete each
other.
- When T flash a picture, 3 kids need to write the
correct spelling of countries words. If the student gets
it right, their team has 1 star.

Game 2: Hot seat


Target: Have students say new words themselves.
- T introduce the game. T slowly shows students a
small part of the FC so they can guess. Remind them
if they forget.
- T can do it with the whole class first, then go to
every student to hear their prediction. T asks:
“Where’s he-she from? Ss will answer I’m
from_____.

15mins Workbook Aims: Ss practice their reading and writing skills.


- T guides Ss to finish their workbook exercises on
pages 72’73.
- T checks if Ss remember new words and structures
or not one by one and gives them stamps.
5 mins Review Aims: Summarize the main knowledge.
- Have them to say the word + structure together
before they leave.
- They can listen to one more song before leaving.
