About Lughnasadh
It was named after the god Lugh, the Celtic god of light who associat-
ed with skill, crafts, and the arts. It is a time for feasting, music and
dancing, and games - all elements that make wonderful celebrations
for witches.
Visit your local farmers market (or raid your garden) to collect bounty
that is grown close to home and is fresh and full of energy.
If you can take your feast a the forest near a lake, or a local park. You
can incorporate some fun with good old fashioned three-legged
races, sack races, face painting, and corn hole.
Try your hand at making fresh bread, or visit a bakery for a crusty loaf
of unsliced bread. At your feast, literally break bread by ripping it apart
with your those seated next to you.
Since Lugh’s domain is arts and crafts, it’s a great time to work on
projects. You could try corn dollies, wheat or corn weaving, basket
weaving, making besoms (brooms), and making poppets. It’s also a
great time to write poetry and songs, and play lots of music.

Now work on your Corn dolly while thinking about all of the sacrifices
you have made over the year. All of the times you put someone else
first. Or when you went without. Pour your energy into your corn
dolly as you are making it.
Now think of a limiting belief you have that lead to all of this?
Are you ready to give that up too? Are you ready to free yourself from
the need to put yourself last or not speak up about what you really
need or want?
Take the pen when you have finished the dolly and write down what
you want to sacrifice this Sabbat, what you want to free yourself from.
This can be done after the reading too if you need guidance.
Spend as much time as you need here, you do not have to rush it.
When you are ready, take the dolly to the water and let it float away.
Please make sure you are not obstructing pipes or waterways doing
this.
