2. When a book is open, two pages face me. The sum of the two pages is 85. What
are the page numbers? If the sum is not given and the product is given to be
1806, how will you find the page numbers?

3. The digit at the ten’s place is three times the digit at the one’s place. If the digits are reversed,
the new number formed will be 36 less than the original number. Find the original number.

4. Terry, the cat is two-third the age of his brother, Tuffy. If the difference in their ages is 4
years, how old is each cat?
5. Monu’s father is 26 years younger than Monu’s grandfather and 29 years older than Monu.
The sum of the ages of all the three is 135 years. Find the age of each of them?

6. The distance between two stations is 300 km. Two motorcyclists start simultaneously from
these stations and move towards each other. The speed of one of them is 7 km/hr more than
the other. If the distance between them after 2 hours of their start is 34 km, find the speed of
each motorcyclist. Check your solution.

7. The numerator of a fraction is 4 less than the denominator. If the numerator is decreased by
1, the fraction becomes 2/3. Find the fraction.

8. Two trains start from P and Q respectively and travel towards each other at a speed of 50
km/hr and 40 km/hr respectively. By the time they meet, the first train has travelled 100 km
more than the second. What is the distance between P and Q?

9. A steamer goes downstream from one port to another in 9 hours. It covers the same distance
upstream in 10 hours. If the speed of the stream be 1 km/hr, find the speed of the steamer in
still water and the distance between the ports.

10. A rectangular swimming pool measures 15 metres by 10 metres. How wide


must a concrete walk around the pool be if the walk is to cover an area of 116
square metres?(2m)
