2. The graphs of 𝑦 = 𝑝(𝑥) are given in the figure, for some polynomials 𝑝(𝑥 ). Find the number of zeroes of 𝑝(𝑥 ), in each case.

3. Aruna has only ₹ 1 and ₹ 2 coins with her. If the total number of coins that she has is 50 and the amount of money
with her is ₹ 75, then what is the number of ₹ 1 and ₹ 2 coins respectively?

4. A jar contains 24 marbles, some are green, and others are blue. If a marble is drawn at random from the jar, the
probability that it is green is 2/3. Find the number of blue balls in the jar.

5. The times, in seconds, taken by 150 athletes to run a 110 m hurdle race are tabulated below:

Find the mean by step – deviation method. Also, find the number of athletes who completed the race in less than
14.6 seconds.

6. If a marble of radius 2.1 cm is put into a cylindrical cup full of water of radius 5cm and height 6 cm, then how much
water flows out of the cylindrical cup?

7. Sum of the areas of two squares is 468 m2. If the difference of their perimeters is 24 m, find the sides of the two
squares.

8. Two tankers contain 850 liters and 680 liters of petrol. Find the maximum capacity of a container which can
measure the petrol of each tanker in the exact number of times.

9. If 7 sin2 𝜃 + 3 cos 2 𝜃 = 4, find 𝜃.

10. Find the diameter of the circle whose area is equal to the sum of the areas of the two circles of diameters 20 cm and
48 cm.

11. If the sum of three numbers in A.P., is 24 and their product is 440, find the numbers.

12. The denominator of a fraction is one more than twice the numerator. If the sum of the fraction and its reciprocal is

13. Find the sample space associated with the experiment of rolling a pair of dice (one is blue and the other red) once.
Also, find
i) the number of elements of this sample space.
ii) the probability of getting 7 as the sum.

14. Two trains leave a railway station at the same time. The first train travels due west and the second train due north.
The first train travels 5 km/hr faster than the second train. If after two hours, they are 50 kilometres apart, find the
average speed of each train.

19. Two coins (a one – rupee coin and a two – rupee coin) are tossed once. Find a sample space.

20. Determine the ratio in which the line 2𝑥 + 𝑦 − 4 = 0 divides the line segment joining the points A (2, – 2) and B
(3, 7).

21. Find the roots of the following quadratic equations (if they exist).
(i) 2𝑥 2 − 7𝑥 + 3 = 0
(ii) 2𝑥 2 + 𝑥 − 4 = 0
(iii) 4𝑥 2 + 4√3𝑥 + 3 = 0
(iv) 2𝑥 2 + 𝑥 + 4 = 0
