OBJECTIVES
Using qualitative and quantitative research methods, this research explores students’
social and cultural adaptation within mainstream culture. It aims to:
2. Examine culture's impact on the learning and social behavior of students from
different culture
INTRODUCTION
Culture is part of the lives of all human being. No matter where you live, who
you are and what are your views and perceptions in life, you are working and
building relationships with people—people who have all cultures. In every country
and places, there is always a culture that makes it people different from others. It is a
strong part of everyone’s lives since it can influence how you view the world, your
values, your humor, your hopes, your loyalty and even your worries and fears. So
when you’re working and creating relationship with other people, it helps to see and
understand the culture they have.
But as time passes by, cultural differences become a big issue and a problem
to the people around the globe. Hate crimes are now very alarming especially in
America eventhough there are already laws against it. Asian American experienced
racism and descrimination in the Western part. An individual is being descriminated
of their skin color, beliefs, traditions, language and racial or ethnic origin. Thus,
culture can be a key to unity when people see it as a beautiful thing but it can also
cause chaos and misunderstanding to many people when they view culture diversity
as negative one.
Last year (2020), the video of George Floyd’s death at the hands of police in
Minneapolis triggered protests around the world. It brought renewed attention to the
high-profile deaths of black Americans during the past decade and ongoing concerns
about systematic racism in the criminal justice system. Discrimation doesn’t only hurt
the physical aspect of the person but also in emotional and mental aspect that
makes things worst.Harming and dragging someone’s right because of the
differences of views, perspective and belief is a perpetuate inequality.
In the Philippines, students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
(LGBT) often encountered discrimination; bullying, physical and sexual
assault. These abuses can cause deep and lasting harm and curtail students’ right to
education.
In this regard, the researchers decided to conduct a research and an interview
to a selected participants regarding to cultural difficulties in adjusting within
mainstream culture.

Conclusions
Based on the findings and the responds of the participants from 10 different
questions in the interview, the following conclusions were drawn:

that may strengthen the previous law in cultural difficulties that may help and
give opportunities to different tribes and ethnic group to showcase the

culture so that the different culture from different ethnic groups won’t gone.
