Decantation
The process of separating the components of a mixture by pouring the liquid
component from one container to another, without disturbing the lower layer of
sediments in a mixture. It is also used to separate solids from liquids.
Evaporation
Technique used to separate out homogenous mixtures where there is one or
more dissolved solids. This method drives off the liquid components from the
solid components. The process typically involves heating the mixture until no
more liquid remains.
Filtration
The process of separating solid and liquid substances by using a porous filter,
such as a strainer and cloth that allows the liquid to pass through.

● 4 Transparent plastic cups
● 1 black pen marker
● Water (placed in a small plastic container - Mineral water)
● 3 tablespoons of Cooking Oil
● ¼ plastic cup of Sand/Soil
● 1 piece of plastic Funnel
● Coffee Filter/Paper towel/Cloth Napkin (either of the three)
