Marking tools a. Tailor's Chalk - dressmakers prefer to mark the wrong side of the fabric with tailor's chalk. b. Tracing wheel and tracing paper - tracing wheel is a serrated or smooth wheel attach to the handle while the tracing paper is also called dressmakers carbon paper and it used to transfer the tracing wheel's markings to the fabric. 3. Cutting tools a. Scissors or shears - They are both used to cut fabrics. b. Pinking shears - used to finish seams and raw edges c. Seam or stitch scissors - used to rip out stitches and open seams, either a result of error or aternations. d. Embroidery scissors - Length is 4-5 inches with fine tip blades. 4. Other sewing tools a. Needles - it is used and commonly used in sewing b. Pins - used to hold pieces of garments temporary while sewing c. Threads - they should match the color of the cloth to be sewed, and used for general sewing and are available in spools or balls d. Thimble - used to protect middle finger while hand sewing e. Needle threader - it aids in threading the needle and makes threading easier, whether with hand or machine needles
